We’re looking for a Senior Automation Test Developer who combines strong software development skills with a strong QA and testing mindset.

This is not a traditional QA or manual testing role. The ideal candidate is a developer who understands testing and can build, debug, and maintain automation solutions through code.

You’ll work closely with developers, QA engineers, and the QA Automation Architect to develop automated testing solutions across UI and API layers, validate platform changes, and continuously improve the quality and reliability of an innovative automation platform.

This is a fully remote, Philippines-based opportunity where you’ll collaborate with global engineering and product teams.

Role Summary

As the Senior Automation Test Developer, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable automated testing solutions that support the quality and reliability of our customer’s platform.

A major focus of this role is hands-on software development. You’ll write automation code from scratch using languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java and work directly with UI automation, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and testing infrastructure.

You’ll bring a developer's approach to testing—understanding how software is built, identifying potential issues, debugging failures, and creating reliable automated solutions rather than relying primarily on low-code or no-code testing tools.

You’ll work closely with the QA Automation Architect and engineering teams to expand test coverage, improve automation frameworks, validate new platform-level changes, and ensure automated testing is integrated into the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable and reusable test automation frameworks covering both UI and API layers.

• Write, debug, review, and maintain automation code using Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or similar programming languages.

• Develop automated test scripts for UI workflows and API endpoints covering functional, regression, and performance testing.

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and rapid feedback.

• Expand test coverage by identifying gaps and proactively developing automation solutions to address them.

• Validate platform changes by picking up and testing tickets from the Platform squad.

• Apply software engineering best practices including version control, code quality, maintainability, and reusable automation design.

• Leverage AI-assisted tools and agent-based frameworks, such as Claude or similar LLMs, to accelerate test creation, maintenance, and coverage expansion.

• Develop and refine AI-assisted testing approaches, including prompting strategies and agent skills that produce reliable and repeatable results.

• Support performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter, k6, Locust, or similar technologies.

• Analyze test results and performance data, identify root causes, and communicate findings to engineering and product stakeholders.

• Collaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, and the QA Automation Architect to align automation with product and engineering requirements.

• Share knowledge and provide technical guidance to QA engineers developing their automation skills.

• Drive continuous improvement across testing processes, automation tooling, frameworks, and infrastructure.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development, SDET, test automation, automation engineering, or a closely related engineering role.

• Strong hands-on programming experience in at least one of the following: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java.

• Demonstrated ability to write automation code from scratch, debug existing code, perform code reviews, and maintain scalable automation frameworks.

• Experience with UI automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar.

• Experience with API automation and testing, including REST APIs, JSON, Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools.

• Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or similar.

• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.

• Experience with or strong interest in AI tools and LLM-based agents for test creation and automation workflows.

• Familiarity with performance and load testing concepts and tools such as JMeter, k6, or Locust.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and identify root causes.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.

• Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced and evolving environment with shifting priorities

Important:

This role requires genuine software development and coding capability. Candidates should be comfortable solving coding and debugging problems and developing automation solutions rather than relying primarily on low-code/no-code tools.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience building or contributing to AI agent workflows or prompt engineering for software testing.

• Experience with cloud-based testing environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban.

• Experience working in an RPA or automation-focused technology environment.

• Experience with additional programming languages, testing frameworks, or developer tooling.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
