Manages all aspects of the trial budget process including trial cost analysis, final study budget development including Out of Pocket and FTE costs, maintenance of financial systems, and trial budget management through the life-cycle including, when required, development of change order budgets.
Effectively interfaces with the Project Planning group, the Contract Development group, Global Project Managers, and Regional Project Managers to achieve a successful study management team model.
Works with operational representatives to continuously improve analytical methodologies and communication tools for supporting the optimal financial execution of clinical trials.
Proactively builds and maintains internal and external relationships that support the gathering of business intelligence to support financial & specific operational activities.
Effectively manages the pricing development lifecycle from customer need identification, through proposal preparation and submission and feedback to stakeholders
Analyzes customer service needs received in study specification sheets, protocols, case report forms and other supporting information used to prepare proposals (Request for Proposal (RFP) information); identifies discrepancies and works with Business Development to obtain the data or, if none are available, makes reasoned assumptions
In collaboration with Proposal Strategist, manages the dissemination of initial RFP information to relevant stakeholders and contributors; sets up costing meeting; directs costing meeting(s) to ensure complete review of RFP by appropriate operational attendees, discussion of resourcing needs, and thorough understanding of customer objectives
Assigns responsibilities to appropriate stakeholders and contributors, sets budget development schedule, coordinates and collates input to meet proposal production timelines; identifies, assess, resolves and/or escalates issues as needed
Prepares appropriate resource/service fees using algorithms and electronic spreadsheets, which may also include assisting in departmental reviews, updating initial estimates, analyzing final costs and providing feedback to appropriate stakeholders for input
If requested, works with Business Development to interact with or present proposal contents to customers
Conducts a lessons learned analysis and provides feedback and recommendations to operational departments for process improvement and to achieve a higher success rate on future proposals
Provides technical guidance and training to operational employees to ensure consistency in preparation and interpretation of cost estimates
Prepares service descriptions and budget assumptions using proposal template
Provides face-to-face, written and telephone contact with representatives from pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device companies, when requested
