The role involves managing day-to-day bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and financial reconciliations across multiple healthcare entities. Additionally, the candidate will maintain and update MSO financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant & FP&A Analyst to support a growing U.S. healthcare organization and its affiliated entities.

This role will support the continued development and scaling of a Management Services Organization (MSO) while providing accounting and financial support across multiple healthcare entities.

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on accounting skills with the analytical ability to maintain financial models, interpret business performance, and provide management with reliable financial information for decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is comfortable owning day-to-day accounting responsibilities while supporting the development of more sophisticated financial planning and modeling processes as the organization grows.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are properly recorded and categorized.
  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
  • Monitor cash balances, expenses, liabilities, and working capital requirements.
  • Help maintain a consistent chart of accounts and accounting practices across affiliated entities.
  • Assist with financial consolidation and intercompany accounting as the organization grows.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax professionals, auditors, and other financial partners as needed.
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready financial documentation.

FP&A & MSO Financial Modeling

  • Maintain and update the organization's existing MSO financial and operating models.
  • Update model assumptions based on actual operating and financial performance.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
  • Model revenue, staffing, operating costs, cash requirements, and business-growth assumptions.
  • Prepare budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analyses.
  • Perform scenario, sensitivity, and break-even analyses to support management decisions.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of changes in staffing, provider count, pricing, payer mix, locations, vendors, and other operating assumptions.
  • Help ensure financial models are logically structured, accurate, auditable, and supported by clearly documented assumptions.
  • Develop management reports, financial summaries, KPIs, and decision-support analyses.
  • Identify significant financial trends, risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities and communicate findings to leadership.

Growth & Strategic Finance Support

As the organization and MSO continue to grow, the Senior Accountant & FP&A Analyst may also support:

  • Financial analysis of new business opportunities.
  • Evaluation of prospective partnerships or acquisitions.
  • Review and normalization of financial information received from potential acquisition targets.
  • Preliminary financial forecasts and transaction scenarios.
  • Integration of newly added entities into the organization's accounting and financial reporting structure.

These responsibilities are expected to grow with the organization and are secondary to the role's primary focus on bookkeeping, accounting, and MSO financial modeling.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting, FP&A, or financial analysis experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the relationships among the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
  • Strong hands-on bookkeeping and general ledger experience.
  • Experience managing or supporting monthly financial close.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, linked schedules, financial models, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Ability to understand, maintain, and troubleshoot existing financial models.
  • Experience working with multiple business entities or consolidated financial reporting.
  • Ability to work with incomplete or inconsistent financial information and develop reasonable, clearly documented assumptions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate financial findings clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or similar professional qualification.
  • Experience working within U.S. healthcare services, physician practices, hospice, MSOs, or other multi-entity healthcare organizations.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting platforms.
  • Experience developing or maintaining integrated financial models.
  • Exposure to M&A, financial due diligence, corporate development, or transaction analysis.
  • Experience working directly with executives or business owners.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance professional who is equally comfortable working inside the general ledger and inside a financial model.

They are experienced enough to independently manage accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities without requiring significant day-to-day supervision, while also possessing the analytical skills needed to maintain financial models, investigate variances, challenge questionable assumptions, and support leadership with reliable financial information.

They do not need to be a CFO or M&A strategist. However, they should have enough financial sophistication to understand how accounting activity flows into the organization's forecasts, cash position, operating model, and broader business decisions.

What Success Looks Like

  • Accurate and timely books across supported entities.
  • Reliable monthly financial reporting and reconciliations.
  • A well-maintained and increasingly robust MSO financial model.
  • Clear visibility into actual performance versus budget and forecast.
  • Financial assumptions that are documented and supported by operating data.
  • Leadership receiving accurate, timely, and actionable financial information.
  • Financial processes and reporting becoming increasingly scalable as the organization grows.
