Position Overview
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking an experienced Salesforce Administrator to serve as the agency’s senior Salesforce Platform Administrator. This role will be responsible for platform administration, configuration, support, governance, user enablement, and continuous improvement of the Salesforce ecosystem. The selected candidate will partner with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver scalable Salesforce solutions while establishing internal Salesforce expertise and reducing reliance on external vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain Salesforce user accounts, profiles, permission sets, role hierarchies, sharing rules, and security controls.

  • Configure Salesforce using declarative tools including Flows, validation rules, approval processes, record types, page layouts, and custom objects.

  • Gather business requirements and translate them into scalable Salesforce solutions.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business units and recommend process improvements.

  • Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics for operational and executive reporting.

  • Manage data quality initiatives including imports, exports, cleansing, deduplication, and migrations.

  • Coordinate Salesforce releases, testing, deployments, and change management activities.

  • Troubleshoot platform, security, configuration, and integration issues.

  • Support integrations between Salesforce and internal/external systems using APIs and integration tools.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, procedures, and knowledge base materials.

  • Develop end-user training materials and provide ongoing user support.

  • Mentor junior administrators and internal support staff.

  • Assist in establishing Salesforce governance, security, compliance, and support frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with Commonwealth security, accessibility, records management, and data governance requirements.

Required Skills
  • 5+ years of experience administering, configuring, supporting, or developing enterprise applications.

  • 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce Administration experience in a complex enterprise environment.

  • Experience configuring Salesforce using:

    • Flows

    • Validation Rules

    • Approval Processes

    • Reports & Dashboards

    • Custom Objects

    • Security Models

  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.

  • Experience conducting stakeholder meetings and providing customer-facing support.

  • Experience with Salesforce security, user provisioning, permission sets, profiles, and role hierarchies.

  • Experience supporting data migration, data quality, and system integrations.

  • Experience with software testing, release management, and deployment activities.

  • Experience creating training materials and providing end-user support.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Highly Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator

  • Salesforce Advanced Administrator Certification

  • Salesforce Platform App Builder Certification

  • Salesforce Business Analyst Certification

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I Certification

  • Experience with Salesforce Industries (Vlocity)

  • OmniStudio, DataRaptors, Integration Procedures, and FlexCards

  • Experience Cloud, Service Cloud, Public Sector Solutions, or Government Cloud

  • Copado, Git, DevOps, and CI/CD experience

  • Salesforce Flows and low-code automation solutions

  • Working knowledge of Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), APIs, and integration patterns

  • Experience supporting Salesforce implementations, migrations, and platform modernization projects

  • Experience mentoring Salesforce Administrators and support teams

  • Experience in government, healthcare, public sector, or highly regulated environments
