We are seeking a Sales Engineer in Orange County, CA to support our Enterprise Sales team. The sales engineer is a critical component of the regional sales team. The primary responsibility is to drive technical sales activities for new and existing opportunities in enterprise accounts. A Sales Engineer will have in-depth, hands-on experience with products and services, as well as competitors' products and services, and can demonstrate solid networking and security skills to customers and partners. 

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Provide technical Sales support for all Gigamon products and solutions. 
  • Performs a high-level specialized systems engineering role as an individual contributor, specializing in pre-sales activities 
  • Performs in-depth and technical presentations for customers, partners, and events. 
  • Design network monitoring architectures with top customers. 
  • Responsible for all customer proof of concepts and product evaluations from deployment to completion. 
  • Provides mentorship/guidance on Technology and competitive trends to clients, partners, and employees. 
  • Manage key End-user technical relationships. 
  • Communication driver between the Field and Corporate on technical issues. 
  • Complex pre-sales technical support. 
  • Account and Partner Management/Development 
  • Create detailed network and logical design diagrams that clearly articulate monitoring architectures, traffic flows, and deployment topologies for customers and internal teams 
  • Travel throughout the Southern California / Hawaii region as needed to support customer engagements, meetings, and on-site POCs. 

 

What you’ve done: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) or equivalent work experience. 
  • 3-7 years of experience in a Pre-Sales Engineer role in networkingcyber security, or or Cloud/AI. 
  • Experience in Cisco, VMWare, AWS, GCP, or Azure is desirable 
  • Experience in a customer-facing role. 
  • Demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales quotas and revenue targets. 
  • Solid understanding of network fundamentals and the OSI model — specifically how traffic flows across Layers 1-7, and how network visibility/monitoring solutions map to each layer. 
  • Proficiency with diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io, or equivalent) — portfolio of design work a plus 
  • Experience with network taps, packet brokers, or NPM/NDP tools. 
  • Hands-on experience with Wireshark or similar packet analysis tools. 

 

Who you are: 

  • Effective technical presentation skills. 
  • Good Communication capabilities. 
  • Comfortable with technical and business English usage (document reading, e-mails, conference calls). 
  • Currently resides in or near Orange County, CA
  • Highly reliable and punctual — consistently on time for customer meetings, internal calls, and team commitments. 
  • Self-directed and independent — able to manage opportunities end-to-end with minimal hand-holding. 
  • Creative problem solver — brings fresh ideas to technical solutions, account strategies, and customer engagements. 
  • Strong team player with a no-ego mindset — willing to step up and support teammates when needed, even outside your assigned territory or scope. 
  • Ability to quickly synthesize and convey complex technical concepts through clear visual diagrams and well-structured PowerPoint slide decks. 
  • Willing and able to travel across the greater Southern California region (LA, OC, San Diego, Inland Empire).

The base salary + commission compensation range targeted for this role is expected to be between $224,000 - $240,000 (subject to terms and conditions of the plan). This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.
