The RMJ Scheduler serves as the primary owner of the Redwood RunMyJobs platform, responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing workload automation processes. This role involves collaborating with technical stakeholders to design automated workflows, troubleshoot system performance, and ensure reliable job execution.

The RMJ Scheduler will support the Railroad Commission of Texas on the RunMyJobs (RMJ) Scheduler project. This role serves as the primary owner and implementor of the Redwood RunMyJobs platform, responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing workload automation processes across the agency. The candidate will partner with enterprise architects, the Informatica lead, Mulesoft engineers, data engineers, report developers, and IT leadership to deliver reliable automation solutions. The role covers platform administration, workflow development, system integration, and ongoing collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for RunMyJobs (RMJ).
- Manage and maintain job schedules, workflows, and dependencies across systems.
- Administer, patch, and configure the Redwood RunMyJobs platform.
- Monitor job execution, alerts, and system performance to ensure reliability and SLA adherence.
- Troubleshoot job failures, performance issues, and system errors in a timely manner.
- Manage platform configurations, users, roles, and security settings, and apply regular system updates and security patches.
- Design, build, and optimize automated workflows and job chains, including batch schedules, execution times, and job priorities.
- Support integration of RMJ with enterprise applications and data sources, including file transfers and API-based integrations.
- Configure and manage platform agents and connectivity across environments.
- Partner with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into automation solutions and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 years of experience providing on-call support for critical batch failures and incidents.
- 5 years of experience creating, debugging, and running scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Born, Python, or other scripting languages) to automate batch jobs and system monitoring.
- 5 years of experience with job scheduling concepts, dependencies, and workflow orchestration and automation.
- 5 years of direct, hands-on experience with RunMyJobs, including day-to-day administration and troubleshooting.
- 5 years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar).
- 3 years of experience with both Linux and Windows operating systems.
- 3 years of experience with application upgrades, installations, and configuration management.
- 3 years of experience designing and maintaining batch job dependencies, triggers, calendars, and execution windows.
- 3 years of experience troubleshooting and resolving CI/CD and migration-related incidents.
- 3 years of experience with integrations, including consuming APIs and running and controlling file-based ETL or ELT processes.
- 3 years of experience working in mainframe systems and JobTrac.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in data focused projects, such as moving from legacy to newer systems.
- 3 years of familiarity with mainframe systems (IMS, COBOL files, JCL, batch processes).
Work Location and Schedule:
Location: Railroad Commission of Texas, Austin, Texas (Work from Home)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays; occasional evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required as needed
