Emergent Risk International (ERI) is seeking to hire a full-time Risk Intelligence Analyst for Latin America. This is a remote position that can be performed from Brazil, Chile, Mexico or Uruguay. The analyst will be a part of the ERI in-house intelligence team and will have experience working in intelligence, business or journalism for public or private sector entities. Near native English writing and speaking fluency is required for this role.

The risk intelligence analyst position will be responsible for contributing to ERI’s products and services through a range of research, writing and analytical tasks as part of the Intelligence Analysis program. The position will also involve social media monitoring, due diligence and data visualization projects. The ideal candidate will have background and experience in business, intelligence and geopolitical risk analysis and will possess strong research and writing skills. This role is responsible for regional coverage and will be suitable for analysts with deep experience reporting on Mexico, Central America and South America.

Primary responsibilities

This role requires an individual with a passion for security and intelligence and a desire to learn and grow with our intelligence program – particularly as we look to expand our global footprint and our weekend coverage for our clients. Some experience in intelligence, threat monitoring, business writing, or journalism is preferred. The individual will have a sense of urgency around monitoring global events and develop a keen awareness and sound judgment regarding the types of events - geographically and from a business perspective - are of actual importance to our clients.

To be successful in this role, the individual will be able to quickly learn and apply the aspects of our clients’ businesses that our company is responsible for covering from a risk perspective as well as the elements of ERI’s approach that make us unique in the market. The individual will be level-headed, team-oriented and able to work collaboratively within a team. This position will involve working nights, weekends and holidays.

The role responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting research and providing analysis on geopolitical and private sector business resilience, political, supply chain, ESG and security related risk.
  • Carrying out social media monitoring and due diligence research.
  • Developing and maintaining keen awareness of relevant global issues impacting ERI’s primary client base.
  • Developing and expanding your knowledge of business and how business works to provide the most relevant and value driven analysis for each unique client.
  • Developing and maintaining a network of contacts in the private sector, government and other relevant sectors.
  • Building content and analysis for the Emergent Risk Situation Room™ including keeping country reports up to date, creating engaging and dynamic data visualizations, updating regional calendars and other resources.
  • Assisting with trainings, ERI sponsored events and other ERI initiatives as appropriate.
  • Participating in the ERI mentorship program.
  • Attend regional risk intelligence association meetings and seeking out opportunities to learn more about your areas of expertise and the businesses of our clients.
  • Administrative tasks as necessary.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international relations, journalism, security and intelligence or related field.
  • 3-6 years experience in a similar or related field.
  • Demonstrated strong analytic skills with a business-focus.
  • Superior English language writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Superior research/OSINT skills.
  • Quick thinking and response times during crisis events.
  • Professional demeanor / Positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • A strong commitment to ethical private-sector intelligence practices.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality around security-specific information.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening and locally compliant reference checks.
  • As this position will be remote, you must have reliable internet access and telecoms and a suitable workspace at your home.


  • Benefits

    Remuneration: This role will be a full-time (40 hours per week) position with pay and benefits commensurate with experience and locally competitive salaries.
