Position Overview
We are seeking a China-focused Research Analyst to translate deep technical and market insight into financial insight on China’s datacenter and AI ecosystem for our institutional clients.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to building the SemiAnalysis China Datacenter Industry Model. Built on SemiAnalysis’ world-class expertise of tracking datacenters, the model will track the infrastructure buildout and strategy of Chinese hyperscalers, AI labs, and datacenter developers in China.

• Contribute to building a location-by-location tracker and forecast of the Chinese datacenter industry. Track datacenter self-build, leasing trends, and major AI compute clusters. Understand the supply-demand dynamics of the industry by monitoring key upstream and downstream trends impacting China's datacenter buildout, such as LLM progress, regulatory developments, and semiconductor constraints.

• Publish concise, data-rich notes, covering the most consequential China datacenter and AI infrastructure developments, policy shifts, and competitive dynamics.

• Engage investor-relations teams, industry executives, and ecosystem participants to deepen our understanding of individual companies and the broader China datacenter and AI Infrastructure landscape.

• Support clients via calls and the SemiAnalysis support portal, delivering timely, well-researched insight on China-related developments.
  

Requirements

• 1-5 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, strategy consulting, or a datacenter industry role, with direct exposure to China-focused research or companies.

• Strong working understanding of the China AI infrastructure value chain, including geographical trends, major players, and supply chains.

• Ability and willingness to dig into China-specific disclosures, policy documents, and industry data and translate them into defensible forecasting assumptions.

• Exceptional written communication: clear, analytical, and grounded in data, even when source information is incomplete or opaque.

• Demonstrated ability to build and defend bottoms-up models from limited or fragmented disclosures.

• Comfort operating in a fast-moving news and policy environment, balancing speed with analytical rigor.

• Collaborative mindset; you enjoy working closely with technologists and presenting nuanced views to sophisticated clients.
