WE ARE HIRING A FULL-TIME 100% REMOTE

CONTRACT GRANT WRITER!

 

The Grant Writer (6-9 months, possible contract to hire) will identify funding opportunities, coordinate the collection of required data and supporting materials, and prepare high-quality grant applications that align with organizational priorities and funding requirements. The Grant Writer will collaborate with internal departments, facility leaders, subject matter experts, finance teams, and operational stakeholders to gather information, develop proposal content, and ensure timely submission of competitive grant applications. This position operates independently while maintaining regular communication with the grants team and key stakeholders throughout the grant development process and serves as a liaison with external funders and community partners as needed to support successful funding outcomes. Experience with federal grant programs, such as Rural Health Transformation and State Opioid Response (SAMHSA), as well as local, state, and county procurements highly preferred. Experience in the behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment fields, including MAT, also preferred.

Acadia Healthcare's Comprehensive Treatment Centers (CTC) division operates 170+ CARF-accredited outpatient opioid treatment programs (OTPs) nationwide, serving patients undergoing treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). As the leading provider of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) in the nation, we care for more than 74,000 patients daily. Our mission is to deliver comprehensive care, combining therapies with safe and effective medications. Our team stands at the forefront of the battle against the opioid epidemic.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Research, identify, and evaluate federal, state, and local funding opportunities that align with organizational priorities and program needs.
  • Develop, write, edit, and submit high-quality grant applications, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and other funding proposals in accordance with funder requirements and established deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the grants team, facility leadership, finance personnel, operational teams, clinical leaders, and other internal stakeholders to gather data, program information, budgets, outcomes, and supporting documentation required for grant submissions.
  • Coordinate the grant development process from opportunity identification through submission, ensuring proposal narratives, budgets, attachments, and compliance requirements are complete, accurate, and competitive.
  • Serve as a liaison with external funders, community partners, and other stakeholders as needed to support proposal development and funding acquisition efforts.
  • Maintain organized records of funding opportunities, proposal activities, submission status, and award outcomes while providing regular updates to the grants team.
  • Perform other grant-related duties as assigned and in compliance with all existing Acadia standards.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional grant writing experience, preferably within healthcare, behavioral health, substance use treatment, nonprofit, or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated success securing grant funding from federal, state, local, foundation, and/or corporate funding sources.
  • Strong knowledge of grant development, proposal writing, budgeting, program evaluation, and grant compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to create persuasive, concise, and technically accurate proposals.
  • Strong research, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online grant submission portals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, leadership teams, community partners, and program staff.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, professionalism, accountability, and commitment to Acadia Healthcare’s mission and values.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work products.
  • Experience supporting healthcare, behavioral health, addiction treatment, or community-based programs preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Grant Professional Certification (GPC) preferred but not required.
