AI Summary

You will own features end-to-end, taking them from ambiguous requirements to shipped, tested, and production-ready code. You will also make sound technical decisions, review teammate code, and help improve the overall codebase.

We're hiring an Application Developer to own features end to end on a small, fast-moving engineering team building a consumer-facing web application.

Summary

  • Flexible Title: Can tailor to reflect your skills & experience.
  • Flexible Time: Can do full-time, part-time, side-gig (off-hours), or fractional (contract).
  • Flexible Commitment: Can do short-term, long-term, or intermittent.
  • No degree required. Bootcamp grads, self-taught developers, and career changers welcome — we care about what you can ship, not how you learned it.

Why so flexible? We're a FUNDED startup racing to launch end of Q3 2026. That gives us just 3 months to stack features while raising additional working capital. Feel free to jump in, help us ship, then bounce >> or stick around. A successful launch translates into lots of permanent jobs for those that want them. We're also interested in long-term "side gig" relationships, if that's what you're into—in our experience, a few expert hours often beat full-time learning-curve hours.

About Us

We're a credible, funded, remote-first startup backed by a growing team. We're pre-launch and moving fast.

About The Role

This is the step up from a junior seat: instead of picking up well-scoped starter tickets, you own features end to end — from ambiguous requirements to shipped, tested, production code that real users touch.

We have a working product and a real engineering team, so you won't be building alone or guessing at architecture. But we do need someone who can take a feature from "here's the problem" to "it's live and working," make sound technical decisions along the way, and help level up the developers around you through code reviews and good example.

This is a mid-level application development role: you're trusted to work independently across the stack, break down fuzzy problems, and ship reliably — while still learning from senior engineers on the harder calls.

Compensation

Up to $140,000 max total annual compensation in Tier 1 cities; cash and equity components to be negotiated. Given the flexible commitment model, comp will be structured accordingly — fractional or hourly arrangements welcome.

What You'll Do in Your First 30 Days

  • You've gotten your local environment running and shipped multiple PRs to production
  • You've owned and delivered at least one full feature — from requirements through tested, reviewed, shipped code
  • You understand the codebase architecture well enough to make sound decisions about where things go
  • You've reviewed teammates' code and given useful feedback, not just received it
  • The team trusts you to take an ambiguous ticket and run with it

What You'll Do Ongoing

  • Own features end to end — take features from requirements to shipped, tested, production code with minimal hand-holding
  • Make technical decisions — choose sensible approaches, weigh trade-offs, and flag the calls that need senior input
  • Fix hard bugs — investigate issues across the stack, find root causes, and resolve them
  • Write and maintain tests — keep coverage meaningful as the app grows
  • Review code — review teammates' PRs, raise the bar, and help junior developers grow
  • Improve the codebase — spot and address tech debt, rough edges, and things that slow the team down

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • 2-4+ years building and shipping web applications (professional, freelance, or serious side projects that real people used)
  • Solid in a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, Angular) and a backend language (Python, Ruby, Node)
  • Can own a feature end to end — break down ambiguous requirements, design a reasonable approach, and ship it
  • Comfortable navigating and extending an existing codebase without everything explained line by line
  • Strong fundamentals: version control (Git), REST APIs, relational databases, testing
  • Strong async communicator — clear PR descriptions, proactive about blockers and trade-offs

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience owning features in a production app with real users
  • Bootcamp, CS degree, or self-taught — we care about what you can do, not how you learned it
  • Familiarity with our stack, CI/CD, or cloud infrastructure
  • Comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments

What You're NOT

  • Not a starter-ticket-only developer — you're expected to own whole features, not just pick from a pre-scoped queue
  • Not a solo developer — you'll have senior engineers to learn from on the harder calls and a structured codebase to work in
  • Not a DevOps / infra hire — we have that covered; you're building product features
