Recovery Manager Duties:

The Recovery Manager is responsible for the management of the Recovery team in the Account Servicing department, overseeing collection efforts on both secured and unsecured accounts worked directly as the originating creditor.

 

This role drives continual training, development, and process improvement across the department while ensuring all activities remain compliant with applicable regulations and maintains effective execution of recovery strategies across all delinquency stages while managing external vendor relationships to maximize recovery outcomes.


Pay Range

USD $65,000.00 - USD $75,000.00 /Yr.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, workflow, and reporting of the Recovery team, managing collection efforts on both secured and unsecured accounts across delinquency stages as the originating creditor.
  • Onboard, manage, and monitor all external recovery vendor activities, analyzing vendor performance, negotiating terms, and ensuring alignment with company recovery goals and compliance standards.
  • Review and approve recovery actions, including payoffs, payment plans, and settlements.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging recovery technologies, industry trends, and regulatory updates to ensure the department remains compliant and is leveraging the most effective tools and strategies to maximize recovery.
  • Collaborate with Account Servicing management to accurately forecast liquidation rates, recovery projections, and other production goals.
  • Participate in and drive continuous process improvement, including creating and refining SOPs to scale recovery operations across both internally worked and vendor-managed accounts.
  • Complete quality checks by performing account reviews.
  • Establish and maintain department KPIs.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging recovery technologies, industry trends, and regulatory updates to ensure the department remains compliant and is leveraging the most effective tools and strategies to maximize recovery outcomes.
  • Foster cross-collaboration across the team to ensure accounts are worked effectively and efficiently. This includes managing and distributing the daily workload to ensure all accounts are completed within the required timeframe, as well as handling and resolving escalated customer calls in a professional and timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by management. Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly. Must be able to take direction and work well with others. Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines. Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately. Must be able to react to change productively.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, communications, or a related field

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field; OR a minimum of 3 years' experience in collections, recovery, or financial services in a comparable role.

  • Experience working with both secured and unsecured accounts as an originating creditor preferred.

  • Prior experience managing external recovery vendors is strongly preferred.
