Master Works is seeking a QA Integration Engineer to ensure the robustness, reliability, and security of enterprise integration flows and middleware components built on the IBM webMethods integration layer. This role develops comprehensive test plans, automates API verification, and executes rigorous scenario-based testing across core operational back-office platforms, third-party web services, and middle-tier microservices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review integration specifications, Swagger/OpenAPI docs, and data mapping sheets to formulate end-to-end testing strategies.
  • Design, build, and execute functional, regression, boundary, and negative test scenarios for REST and SOAP APIs running across IBM webMethods.
  • Validate bidirectional data exchange and state changes between external/internal APIs and underlying operational systems (ERP, enterprise asset management, legacy databases).
  • Build and maintain automated API test suites integrated with CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Conduct payload structure validation, schema validation (JSON/XML), data transformation checks, and transaction rollback verification.
  • Execute non-functional integration testing, including rate limiting, API latency benchmarks, error-handling resilience, and token authentication (OAuth, mTLS).
  • Track and document integration defects, coordinate root-cause analysis with the webMethods development team, and monitor fixes to closure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of dedicated software quality assurance experience, with at least 2 years focused specifically on middleware, microservices, and API integration testing.
  • Direct working knowledge of testing within Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) or integration middleware ecosystems (IBM webMethods, Software AG, or comparable platforms like MuleSoft/TIBCO).
  • High proficiency in API testing tools such as Postman, Newman, SoapUI, ReadyAPI, or JMeter.
  • Strong grasp of API authentication protocols, message brokers, HTTP status code semantics, and distributed system architectures.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries to validate database-level state changes after API execution.
  • ISTQB Certified Tester (Advanced Level - Technical Test Analyst or Agile Tester), Postman API Fundamentals / Certified Automation, and IBM Certified Associate (webMethods) certifications are preferred.
  • Skills in automated testing scripts (Python/JavaScript), CI/CD test automation (Azure DevOps/GitLab), XML/JSON parsing, and mock service virtualization are preferred.
