We are looking for a forward-thinking QA Automation Engineer with a strong AI mindset to revolutionize how we approach quality in our marktguru App Squad. In this role, you won’t just execute test cases – you will leverage AI and modern automation tools to build a smart and highly efficient quality ecosystem.
You will report directly to the marktguru App Squad Teamlead and act as the tech-savvy driver for smart automation, ensuring our development pipeline stays fast and reliable.
Remote work within Austria possible; residence in Austria required.
AI-Driven Automation: You will explore, implement, and leverage AI tools to automate testing workflows, generate smart test data, and minimize manual testing efforts.
Smart Pipeline Integration: You integrate automated checks directly into our CI/CD pipelines to ensure the App Squad gets lightning-fast feedback on every code change.
Efficiency Booster: You focus on reducing flakiness by using modern, intelligent tooling, turning test results into real, actionable insights for the developers.
Collaboration: You work hand-in-hand with developers and the Teamlead within the App Squad to make quality an automated, frictionless part of the daily workflow.
True Cross-Platform Experience: Proven track record of designing and maintaining automation frameworks across iOS, Android, and Backend environments. You aren't just a mobile tester or a backend tester—you bridge the gap.
Mobile Automation Frameworks: Hands-on experience with native or cross-platform mobile testing tools such as Appium, XCUITest, Espresso, or Detox. You understand the nuances of testing on real devices vs. simulators/emulators.
API & Backend Testing: Deep expertise in testing RESTful APIs using tools like Postman, RestAssured, SuperTest, or similar programmatic libraries. You know how to validate data integrity in databases (SQL/NoSQL).
Code Proficiency: Strong programming skills in at least one major language relevant to our stack (e.g., Java/Kotlin, Swift, Python, or TypeScript). You write clean, maintainable test code, not just flaky scripts.
CI/CD & Device Farms: Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions). Familiarity with cloud testing platforms like BrowserStack
The "Shift-Left" Mentality: You don't wait for code to be thrown over the wall. You collaborate with Product, Backend, and Mobile engineers during the design phase to define acceptance criteria (BDD/TDD approach).
Quality Advocate: Ability to balance automated testing with strategic exploratory testing. You look at the product holistically to catch edge cases that unit tests miss.
Pragmatic Approach: You prefer smart, lightweight solutions over heavy, over-engineered testing frameworks. You choose tools that bring immediate value.
Team Player: Strong communication skills in English to collaborate easily within our agile squad.
Performance & Load Testing: Experience with backend load testing tools or mobile profiling tools (Xcode Instruments, Android Studio Profiler) to monitor memory leaks, battery drain, and network throttling.
Contract Testing: Familiarity with microservices architecture and contract testing frameworks to ensure backend API changes don't accidentally break the mobile clients.
Visual Regression Testing: Experience using automated UI comparison tools (e.g., Applitools, Percy) to catch layout regressions across different screen sizes and OS versions.
Release Management: Hands-on experience navigating App Store Connect and Google Play Console, including managing beta tracks (TestFlight, Google Play Beta testing) and staged rollouts.
Security Fundamentals: A basic understanding of mobile and API security practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10, SSL pinning, token-based authentication validation).
