PURPOSE: Direct the Rural Healthcare Transformation Fund (RHTF) grant-funded KAPA Regional Training Program as Program Manager and designated Paramedic Program Director. Build on KAPA's existing KBEMS training institute and Medical Director to secure a sponsoring college partnership, obtain a CoAEMSP Letter of Review, and lead the program toward CAAHEP accreditation. Primarily oversee program operations, the Clinical Manager, and implementation staff, and project grant administration.

PAY SCALE / ANNUAL COMPENSATION: Annual gross salary of $105,000, plus budgeted employer-paid benefits.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt position
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise the Clinical Manager and all assigned staff needed to implement the program, including instructional and support personnel. Oversee faculty performance and preceptor preparation through affiliate relationships. This position primarily manages the program; routine teaching is assigned to qualified instructional staff.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Meet the Paramedic Program Director qualifications below and demonstrate the ability to lead an EMS education program through accreditation. Provide official transcripts, current credentials, a resume, and documentation of teaching and prehospital-care experience.
EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. The degree may be in any major. Documented education or experience in instructional methodology is also required.
Preferred: Master's degree, especially in EMS, education, or a health-related field. A master's degree is a recommended qualification, not the national minimum.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Required: Academic training and experience equivalent to a paramedic; experience delivering prehospital emergency care; and demonstrated knowledge of current national EMS education and scope-of-practice standards and evidence-informed clinical care.
Preferred KAPA hiring criteria: At least three years of paramedic field experience and two years of EMS teaching, coordination, or program leadership. Strong preference for documented participation in a successful CoAEMSP self-study, site visit, or initial accreditation effort. These experience targets are proposed hiring preferences, not accreditation minimums. Grant administration, budget tracking, and funder reporting experience are also preferred.

No automatic substitution for required prehospital-care experience or paramedic equivalent preparation. Documented instructional-methodology education may satisfy that specific qualification.
SUBSTITUE EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION:
Not applicable to the required bachelor's degree for this U.S. program. Work experience alone does not satisfy that degree requirement.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Proposed KAPA credential requirement: Current unrestricted Kentucky paramedic license, or eligibility to obtain it before performing duties requiring Kentucky licensure. Obtain and maintain KBEMS Paramedic Educator certification before performing instructional duties that require it. Remain eligible for required program personnel approval and credential review.
