Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a Program Control Associate to support our federal projects by providing financial and program management analysis. This role assists with budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, reporting, and overall program financial performance.

 

This position will be based out of McLean, Va. and can be performed fully remote.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple programs and stakeholders. This position provides an opportunity to develop foundational experience in program finance, project controls, and government contracting operations.


What you will do

· Support monthly financial planning, forecasting, and variance analysis activities across assigned programs

· Assist with revenue, backlog, funding, and labor reporting

· Prepare recurring financial reports and ad hoc analyses for program managers and leadership

· Monitor program performance against budget, forecast, and contractual requirements

· Support maintenance of financial data within ERP and reporting systems

· Partner with program managers, finance, contracts, and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting

· Help identify data discrepancies, reporting issues, and process improvement opportunities

· Support audit requests and documentation requirements as needed

· Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation


What you need to have

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

· 0-2 years of experience in program control, financial analysis, accounting, project management, or related roles, preferably within the defense or government contracting industry

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Willingness to learn government contracting and program finance concepts


What we'd like you to have

· Internship or academic experience related to finance, accounting, or data analysis

· Exposure to government contracting, ERP systems, or project-based financial environments

· Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting concepts
