The Production Specialist manages ERP data, including Bills of Material and production routings, to ensure manufacturing accuracy. They act as the primary liaison between Engineering and Production to translate designs into executable manufacturing processes.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
ERP & Manufacturing Data Management
- Create, maintain, and audit Bills of Material (BOMs) for fabrication, welding, machining, powder coating, assembly, and other manufacturing processes
- Develop and maintain production routings, labor standards, work centers, and operational sequences within the ERP system
- Ensure ERP data accurately reflects current manufacturing methods and capabilities
- Review engineering releases and implement required ERP updates
- Monitor ERP accuracy and identify discrepancies impacting production, purchasing, inventory, scheduling, or costing
- Support implementation of new products and engineering changes
Engineering & Production Coordination
- Act as the primary liaison between Engineering and Production teams
- Translate engineering designs into executable manufacturing processes
- Verify manufacturability of designs and provide feedback regarding production challenges
- Assist with development and maintenance of work instructions, manufacturing documentation, and process standards
- Participate in engineering review meetings and production planning discussions
- Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and ensure timely implementation on the production floor
Production Support
- Work directly with supervisors, leads, and operators to validate routing accuracy and labor standards
- Investigate production issues related to BOMs, routings, inventory transactions, and work orders
- Identify process bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase efficiency
- Monitor production feedback and update ERP data to reflect actual manufacturing practices
- Support scheduling, planning, and capacity analysis activities as needed
Continuous Improvement
- Perform routine audits of BOMs, routings, inventory transactions, and manufacturing data
- Develop and implement process improvements that increase accuracy and reduce administrative burden
- Help establish best practices for ERP utilization across departments
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Track and report key metrics related to ERP accuracy, routing compliance, and production efficiency
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of manufacturing, production planning, engineering support, or ERP administration experience
- Strong understanding of Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, work orders, and manufacturing processes
- Experience working within ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in metal fabrication, welding, powder coating, machining, or assembly manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with CAD drawings and engineering documentation
- Experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as Fulcrum, JobBOSS, Epicor, NetSuite, SAP, or similar
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
