Macabacus | Remote (New York) | Full-time
Macabacus is an industry-standard productivity suite used daily by tens of thousands of finance professionals at top investment banks, private equity firms, and corporate advisory teams. We are expanding our platform to automate financial modeling and pitch deck creation for the AI era.
We need someone who's lived banking, 2 to 5 years in investment banking, to bridge the gap between finance and engineering, serving as the authority on how deal teams build pitch decks and analyze transactions.

What you'll do
  • Be the voice of the user. Ensure new workflows, features, and automated capabilities feel native, fast, and institutional-grade for bankers working under tight deal deadlines.
  • Evaluate and stress-test outputs. Test automated and AI-assisted workflows against real-world deal scenarios, catching subtle formatting, logic, and layout errors before features ship.
  • Establish gold-standard benchmarks. Create best-in-class benchmark materials across pitch decks, charts, tables, and valuation models to set baselines for engineering and evaluation.
  • Bridge finance and engineering. Translate investment banking conventions, workflows, and complex finance logic into clear product requirements that developers can build against.
  • Shape the product roadmap. Collaborate directly with product managers and engineers to identify high-friction bottlenecks in an analyst’s day-to-day work and prioritize the most impactful tools to build.
  • 2 to 5 years in investment banking (Analyst or Associate level) with hands-on experience building pitch decks, dynamic charts, and financial models under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail: An instinct for catching calculation errors, visual misalignments, and formatting flaws that others miss.
  • Deep product intuition: A clear, practical sense of what makes software indispensable versus frustrating to a deal team.
  • Clear communication: The ability to explain finance rationale, layout conventions, and workflow nuances simply to non-finance teammates.
  • Interest in workflow automation: Practical curiosity about how modern technology can meaningfully improve finance workflows, paired with a realistic view of current limitations.
  • Bonus
    • You are an active power user of Macabacus or similar financial productivity tools.
    • You have experimented with modern AI tools or custom workflows to speed up research, presentation building, or analytical tasks.
  • Be part of a founding team building the future of financial modeling and presentation creation.
  • Apply your banking expertise in a more entrepreneurial, technology-driven environment.
  • Directly shape how AI transforms workflows in investment banking, private equity, and corporate finance.
  • Competitive compensation + equity upside in a high-growth startup.
  • Step out of the grind of banking while still applying everything you’ve learned.
