The Product Manager will lead discovery, shape scope, and ship increments within product trios of designers and engineers. They are responsible for translating executive strategy into a prioritized roadmap and measuring the outcomes of shipped features.

We are looking for a Product Manager with an engineering background, or an engineer who has grown into product, to join Selma.

Basic information:

  • Location: Remote (EU/EEA), product team based in Finland

  • Type: Full-time, permanent

  • Seniority: Senior

  • Salary: 6000-7000 €/month

About Selma

Selma is a digital wealth manager helping over 15,000 investors invest, grow and plan for retirement without the fees or opacity of a traditional bank. The product is a mobile-first app built around personalised ETF portfolios, AI-powered financial advice and a full retirement planning suite.

Selma is regulated by FINMA as an independent wealth manager and serves customers across German-speaking Switzerland. The team is around 18 people. The product team is mostly in Finland and includes engineers and two designers.

The role

One thing worth saying upfront: Selma builds for people who know very little about finance. The ability to take something genuinely complex and make it clear, useful and trustworthy for an everyday user is what this role is about.

You would work in product trios with designers and engineers, the team composition shifts depending on what is being built. You run discovery, shape scope and ship increments. The executive team sets strategy; your job is to translate that into what gets built, in what order, and to measure whether it worked.

The technical background matters. Selma is a small team building a technically complex product, and the PM works closely enough with engineering that understanding how things are built shapes how well you can do the job. The role comes with a high degree of freedom and responsibility. It suits someone who makes decisions without waiting for consensus and owns product thinking end to end.

Selma's product covers the full arc of personal investing: building wealth, growing it and eventually drawing it down. The team has been expanding the retirement planning suite (pension calculators, scenario simulations, decumulation flows) while in parallel developing Selma AI, an LLM layer on top of proprietary risk and wealth analysis engines.

What you would own

  • Discovery and definition in the product trio

  • Roadmap prioritisation and scope decisions

  • Measuring outcomes after shipping

  • Keeping the team from building too much at once

What we are looking for

Must-haves:

  • B2C product experience, shipped to real users and measured what happened

  • Background from a small or mid-sized company, the ownership model here is different from large organisations

  • Experience working in product trios with design and engineering

  • Skilled at scoping down, says no often and splits work into meaningful increments

  • Able to talk directly to users and act on what you hear

  • Fluent with product analytics and experimentation

  • Uses AI tools day-to-day and knows where they fall short

Nice to have:

  • Engineering background or strong technical intuition

  • Consumer product background

  • Design sensibility or experience working as a PM/designer hybrid

  • German or French is a significant advantage as Selma serves customers across Switzerland.

The culture

Selma is small enough that decisions happen fast. The product team is based in Finland, the commercial and compliance sides in Switzerland and Austria. Selma is a fully remote company. The Helsinki office exists for those who want a place to work from occasionally, but day-to-day work happens independently wherever you are. For candidates based outside Finland, this means working on your own physically, which suits some people well and others less so. The team gets together twice a year somewhere in Europe.

The people who do well here are pragmatic rather than dogmatic, act on incomplete information rather than wait for certainty, and are honest enough to question their own assumptions.

The process

  • Intro call with our recruitment partner - we talk through your background and what you are looking for

  • Interview with the CTO and People & Culture Lead at Selma

  • Working session with an engineer and designer - a real problem, worked through together

  • Final conversation with CEO
