AI Summary

Own and iterate on well-scoped design work for a mature product area, focusing on interface designs and consistency. Partner with engineering and product management to implement production-ready designs and contribute to user research.

Spacelift is the infrastructure orchestration platform built for the modern software era, managing the full lifecycle for both traditional IaC and AI-accelerated infrastructure. It integrates with Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation, Pulumi, and Ansible in a single governed workflow so you deliver secure, compliant infrastructure at scale. Developer self-service, Golden Paths with guardrails, an OPA policy engine, and drift detection accelerate developer velocity while maintaining control. Spacelift Intelligence adds AI-powered provisioning and diagnostics across traditional and AI-driven workflows.

Spacelift was founded in 2020 by long-time DevOps practitioner Marcin Wyszynski and successful entrepreneur Pawel Hytry and has raised $82.3M in funding over four rounds from top venture capital firms including Insight Partners, Blossom Capital, Hoxton Ventures, Inovo Venture partners and Five Elms Capital.

We are hiring a Product Designer with 2 to 5 years of experience to carry well-scoped, ongoing work on a mature product under senior review, so the senior designers can focus on the new bet. This is deliberately the first seat below Senior on the team: a place to do real craft on a real product, with strong people to learn from, and a clear path toward Senior.

What you'll do:

  • Own well-scoped, ongoing design work on a mature product area (likely Deploy): iterations, improvements, edge cases, polish, and consistency work, with review and direction from a Senior or Staff Designer.

  • Turn defined problems into clear, production-ready interface designs. Strong fundamentals in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design. Share examples of this work through a portfolio or concrete work samples during the process.

  • Contribute to research alongside a senior teammate. Run focused user interviews and usability checks. Synthesize findings with support.

  • Use the design system fluently. Reuse what is there, flag gaps when a pattern is missing. Owning or extending the system is not your job here; that sits with the seniors.

  • Partner with engineering and PM through implementation. Pair on edge cases. Communicate decisions with reasoning, not preference.

  • Contribute design assets to launches and releases (in-product onboarding, release-notes visuals, announcement surfaces) with guidance.

  • Build technical fluency. Be curious about DevOps, IaC, and the dense, technical workflows our users live in, even when it is new to you.

About you:

  • 2 to 5 years of product design experience, ideally on B2B, technical, or developer-facing products.

  • Solid fundamentals in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design.

  • Fluency in Figma and modern design system practice.

  • A portfolio or work samples with concrete examples we can review, showing shipped product work, design process, interaction decisions, and visual craft. Applications without examples or a portfolio will not be considered.

  • Reliable on ongoing, iterative work. You finish things, you sweat the details, and you keep quality consistent across a lot of small surfaces.

  • Clear written and verbal communicator. You can explain a design decision in a couple of sentences.

  • Open to critique and direction. You want to work under senior designers and get better fast.

  • Curiosity about technical users and technical conversations.

  • Comfortable using AI tools in your design workflow (ideation, exploration, basic automation) and curious about where they help. We use them daily and expect you to.

  • Fluent English (B2+), based in Europe.

Nice to have:

  • Background or coursework in DevOps tools, infrastructure, observability, CI/CD, or developer products.

  • Experience contributing to (not owning) a design system and familiarity with design tokens.

  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS or basic prototyping in code.

  • Exposure to Working Backwards or other artifact-driven product practices.
