Principal Product Manager, Interoperability & Network
We're hiring a Principal Product Manager to own the roadmap for FHIR-based interoperability and the b.well Network. This is a strategic individual contributor role: you'll translate regulatory requirements — patient access APIs, provider directory APIs, payer-to-payer exchange — and FHIR/HL7 standards (FHIR R4, US Core, Da Vinci implementation guides) into product specs that build the strongest health network in the country. You'll set and track measurable KPIs (API adoption, data completeness, connection growth, latency) to prioritize the roadmap with data instead of intuition, addressing today's healthcare fragmentation while anticipating tomorrow's interoperability needs. This role demands data-driven, strategic product development — the ability to synthesize technical complexity, market demands, and user needs into product strategies that move the needle.
Company Overview
b.well is solving healthcare’s fragmentation problem with our FHIR-based health data management platform. The platform connects data from EHRs, wearables, portals, and other sources, while our intelligence engine personalizes the consumer experience. By simplifying the complex healthcare ecosystem, we make it easy and convenient for consumers to engage and take action—whether it’s scheduling care, setting reminders, accessing health data, and more. For our clients, this means better health outcomes, operational efficiency, and stronger consumer engagement.
Team Overview
The Product Management team is the bridge between customer needs, technology capabilities, and business objectives — identifying industry interoperability challenges and translating them into solutions that grow b.well's connected network.
What You'll Do:
FHIR Interoperability Product Requirements (25%)
- Own product requirements for FHIR-based data exchange across 350+ integrated data sources
- Translate CMS interoperability rules (CMS-0057-F, TEFCA alignment, patient/provider/payer access APIs) into functional and non-functional specifications
- Define acceptance criteria against FHIR R4, US Core, and Da Vinci implementation guides
- Document stakeholder dependencies across engineering, compliance, and network partners
Data-Driven UX & Network Optimization (25%)
- Define and own KPIs/OKRs for CMS-Aligned Network growth — data sources connected, API call volume and latency, data completeness, provider/payer connection growth
- Build and monitor dashboards tracking FHIR API adoption and interoperability performance
- Map end-to-end user journeys for patients, providers, and payers exchanging data through the platform
- Use quantitative and qualitative testing to continuously improve the interoperability experience
Customer & Market Insights (25%)
- Benchmark b.well's network against CMS-Aligned Network peers (60+ companies) and interoperability trends (ONC, CMS, TEFCA)
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research with health plans, providers, and consumers to quantify data-fragmentation pain points
- Analyze usage data to prioritize new FHIR-based capabilities and network enhancements
Cross-Functional Execution (25%)
- Partner with engineering on the Helix FHIR Server roadmap and with legal/compliance on CMS-Aligned Network requirements
- Coordinate launch readiness across Client Success, Solution Consulting, Engagement, Reporting, and Commercialization
- Define client value measurement methodology tied to interoperability metrics (e.g., growth in connected records, reduction in manual data entry)
Job Requirements:
- 6+ years of product management experience, including end-to-end delivery of at least one FHIR-based or healthcare interoperability product from concept to market launch
- 4+ years of leadership experience in technology product management
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of FHIR/HL7 standards (FHIR R4, US Core, Da Vinci implementation guides) and CMS interoperability regulation (CMS-0057-F, Patient Access API, TEFCA)
- Working knowledge of payer and provider data — EMR/clinical coding, claims, provider directories, network adequacy
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing health data (HIPAA, HITRUST)
- Comfort defining and tracking KPIs/OKRs, and using analytics tools to validate product decisions with data rather than opinion
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a track record of executing complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence across teams and organizations
Accountable for:
- Owning Product Requirement Document (PRD) completeness and requirements definition
- Managing scope control and driving stakeholder alignment
- Ensuring requirements clarity and spec readiness for engineering handoff
- Maintaining quarterly roadmap alignment across teams and priorities
Cultural Fit:
- Passion for healthcare interoperability — committed to advancing FHIR-based data exchange and CMS-Aligned Network standards to reimagine consumer healthcare
- Thrives in high-velocity environments characterized by start-up agility, strategic adaptability, and entrepreneurial problem solving
- Combines hands-on tactical execution with executive-level strategic thinking
