The Principal Product Manager will own the risk and compliance strategy for payment product lines, leading cross-functional pods to deliver new capabilities from concept to launch. They will act as the day-to-day product owner, managing backlogs and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure products are scalable, compliant, and user-focused.
RealPage Payments is the purpose-built payments engine within the RealPage platform, powering rent, deposit, and fee payments across a broad range of property types. By tightly integrating with RealPage’s property management solutions, RealPage Payments enables property management companies to streamline rent collection, reduce manual processing and fraud risk, and offer residents flexible, digital-first options to pay how, when, and where they prefer.
Own the risk and compliance strategy, roadmap, and execution across payment product lines, including both existing offerings and new products from concept through launch and scale.
Lead a cross-functional product pod (engineering, design, marketing, operations, and analytics) without direct people-management responsibility, setting priorities, clarifying requirements, and ensuring accountability for outcomes.
Write the PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria that engineering builds from: clear business rules, edge cases, data requirements, and compliance controls, detailed enough to move into sprint execution with minimal rework
Use AI tools as a core part of your workflow to accelerate discovery, draft and pressure-test PRDs and user stories, and shorten the path from idea to execution, while applying your own judgment to validate every output.
Serve as the day-to-day product owner for your domain, writing user stories, managing backlogs, and making trade-off decisions that balance client value, technical feasibility, risk, and commercial impact.
Lead the end-to-end launch of new payment risk capabilities, including discovery, business case development, requirements, build, testing, rollout, training, and post-launch performance measurement.
Partner with Marketing and GTM teams to develop value propositions, positioning, messaging, and sales enablement materials that drive awareness, adoption, and expansion.
Act as a subject matter expert on RealPage Payments and the broader payments ecosystem (card, ACH, offline, alternative payments), staying current on industry trends, regulations, and competitive offerings.
Participate in executive briefings as the voice of payments risk.
Work closely with Operations, Legal and Compliance to ensure products are resilient, scalable, compliant, and deliver reliable experience for property managers and residents.
Proactively identify product, process, and experience gaps, and drive cross-functional initiatives to address them
Proven track record of managing products end-to-end—from discovery and strategy through delivery, commercialization, and iterative optimization.
Experience leading cross-functional pods or squads (engineering, design, marketing, operations) in an AI-driven environment, with strong influence skills and no formal reporting lines.
Deep, hands-on risk and compliance expertise in a payment or fintech environment, such as fraud prevention, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, disputes and chargebacks, or ACH and card compliance.
Working knowledge of consumer financial regulation and BSA/AML, plus familiarity with the rules that govern payment flows, such as NACHA, card network rules, Regulation E, and PCI DSS is a plus.
Strong familiarity with payment flows (card, ACH, cash/offline, digital wallets) and payment economics; property management, real estate tech, or proptech experience is a plus.
Exceptional technical product writing: a track record of authoring PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria (for example, Given/When/Then) that engineers can pick up and build from immediately, with edge cases, non-functional requirements, and compliance controls captured up front.
Experience working closely with internal teams to inform roadmaps, co-create solutions, and support go-to-market and adoption.
Experience integrating third-party risk and compliance platforms that manage identity verification, fraud, and KYC/AML decisioning into existing or legacy systems.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear narratives for technical teams, commercial teams, and executive stakeholders.
