As a Principal Biostatistician Team Lead, you will serve as the team leader for a collaborative group of biostatisticians, data managers, data entry personnel and programmers by providing mentorship, evaluating performance and guiding project execution. In this role, you will provide statistical expertise in the design and conduct of clinical trials and research studies, working closely with investigators and interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative approaches and strategic solutions. You will lead multiple projects or complex components of large-scale studies simultaneously, oversee statistical programming, database management and data analysis activities, and serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects. You will also help shape departmental policies, determine resources and budget needs for statistical support, coordinate the training and development of statistical personnel, and participate in initiatives that advance the mission of the department.
A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Oversee research personnel within assigned area, ensuring orientation and training in standard operating procedures (SOPs) in compliance with sponsoring organization and external regulatory agencies as well as performance management, career development, corrective action and terminations.
In collaboration with department administrative leader, responsible for leading recruitment efforts such as initial screening of biostatistical candidates, including development and assessment of technical screening tools, and making final recommendations to leadership on candidate selection.
Provide statistical expertise to other biostatisticians, including the appropriate methods for study design, sample size estimation, development of instruments for data collection, randomization procedures and appropriate statistical analysis, model building techniques, graphical techniques and appropriate references for data.
Maintain professional relationships, including frequent and open effective communication with internal and external constituents.
Serve as a resource for departmental staff for professional development.
Assist with organizing department-wide opportunities for professional growth, including seminars, training courses, and other resources.
Ensure equitable distribution of workload and allocation of resources.
Determine study resources/budgets for statistical activities, ensure appropriate resources to meet contractual obligations.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or a related field
Excellent interpersonal skills, management/leadership abilities
Demonstrated excellence in statistical methodology
Expertise in standard statistical software
Understanding of database packages for optimal data extraction and utilization
Demonstrated written and verbal skills
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Fifteen years as a statistician in medical research (clinical trials preferred)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to travel throughout the hospital system
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
