Requirements

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide virtual classroom coverage across subject areas as assigned.
  • Deliver instruction in alignment with school policies, curriculum, and established lesson plans.
  • Maintain a supportive online learning environment and uphold high academic expectations.
  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and administrators.
  • Complete grading in a timely manner and communicate progress to students and parents.
  • Monitor assignment completion and provide targeted instructional feedback, strategies, and support.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, documentation, and compliance records.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to review data and refine instructional strategies.
  • Communicate frequently with students, families, and colleagues regarding academic needs, progress, and expectations.
  • Consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure successful completion of instructional programs.
  • Follow all school procedures, policies, and guidelines for online instruction.
  • This is a remote position; the employee must reside in California.
  • Travel may be required on occasion for in-person events within California.
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of virtual instruction, independent study, and student engagement strategies.
  • Ability to deliver live online lessons across assigned grade levels and subject areas.
  • Skilled in monitoring student progress, grading, and providing timely instructional feedback.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with students, families, staff, and administrators.
  • Proficient with virtual learning platforms and school systems, including Zoom, Google Workspace, Canvas, and School Pathways.
  • Ability to maintain accurate attendance, grading, documentation, and compliance records.
  • Organized, flexible, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a remote instructional setting.
  • Professional, reliable, and able to maintain continuity of instruction during teacher leaves.
  • Experience supporting diverse student populations in a virtual or independent study environment.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Primarily performed from a home office with reliable high-speed internet and a quiet space suitable for student video sessions. Occasional in-person attendance required for the annual Back to School Conference and other events. Extended sitting and keyboard/mouse use up to 8 hours daily; hearing, speaking, and visual acuity to engage students virtually. At in-person events: standing/walking, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs (up to 40 lbs on rare occasions), pushing/pulling not exceeding 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations available.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Clear or Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education.
  • Must have English Learner authorization.
  • Must currently reside in California.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort with technology and virtual learning platforms.
  • Previous experience teaching in a virtual or Independent Study environment.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency with technology and virtual learning platforms, including Zoom, Google Workspace, Canvas, and School Pathways.


Compensation

 $5858.67 per month, $500 for one week of training
