We are seeking an experienced, tech-savvy Part-Time Japanese Language Instructor to lead our online courses tailored specifically for middle and high school students. In this role, you will shape engaging, high-impact learning experiences that resonate with a teen audience, helping them build both linguistic skills and cultural connection.
Teach online teen courses following the established curriculum syllabus.
Create compelling supplemental teaching materials tailored to the dynamic pacing of a teenage classroom.
Align with fellow instructors and maintain regular, timely communication with the Education & Family Department staff regarding schedules and course updates.
Participate in instructor meetings before and after each semester to discuss program enhancements and share insights.
Design and introduce new theme- or content-based courses aligned with student interests.
Two 10-week semesters (Fall and Spring) and one 5-week semester (Summer).
Classes meet once per week for 60 minutes, starting at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
Instructors may have the option to teach multiple courses per semester based on programmatic needs.
Bachelor’s degree required; an MA in a relevant field is preferred.
Minimum of one year of experience teaching the Japanese language in a structured classroom setting.
Proficient in video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Teams) and digital presentation tools. Experience using digital tools for writing instruction (e.g.,iPad/ tablet and stylus, real-time annotation) is required.
Strong oral and written English communication skills.
Deep familiarity with modern language teaching methodologies; a passion for adopting innovative educational tech is a plus.
Must be a U.S. citizen, green card holder, or possess a valid U.S. work permit. Out-of-state applicants are welcome to apply.
