Position Overview

Our Outside Sales Engineer - North & South Dakota will be responsible for developing and managing sales in North and South Dakota. They will promote mechanical equipment solutions to customers in the power generation, oil & gas, sand & aggregate, mining, food processing and agriculture industrial sectors, among others. This includes all product lines and manufacturers that Jasper is authorized to represent in your assigned territory. You are expected to dedicate your full professional time and attention to the responsibilities of this position and to comply with all company policies and procedures. This is a remote role, but ideally a candidate in North Dakota is positioned well for the territory.


The headquarters of Jasper is in Hibbing, MN but this is a remote role within the territory of North & South Dakota.

Job Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territory or industry.

- Conduct in-person sales calls, presentations, and product demonstrations to prospective clients.

- Develop and maintain strong principal and customer relationships to drive loyalty and repeat business.

- Meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics.


Territory & Account Management

- Manage an assigned sales territory with regular travel to client sites.

- Plan and execute daily/weekly schedules for prospecting and follow-ups.

- Maintain a pipeline of active opportunities using CRM tools.

- Collaborate with principals and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues.


Market & Product Knowledge

- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitors.

- Maintain in-depth knowledge of product lines, pricing, and promotions.

- Provide feedback from the field to help improve offerings and sales strategies.


Reporting & Administration

- Accurately document all sales activities in the CRM system.

- Prepare regular reports on sales performance and territory updates.

- Attend sales meetings and training sessions.

- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

- Other duties as requested.


Target Industries

The Outside Sales Rep will focus on key markets, including:

- Sand & Aggregate

- Agriculture

Requirements

Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field preferred.

- 2–5 years of outside sales experience, preferably industrial B2B.

- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.


Skills & Competencies

- Strong technical aptitude in industrial and process-driven environments and ability to understand, present, and troubleshoot complex products or systems.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Self-motivated and results-driven with excellent time management skills.

- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain long-term customer relationships.

- Solid presentation and negotiation skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Experience using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho).


Other Requirements

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Willingness to travel frequently within assigned territory (up to 25% overnight travel may be required).

- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, depending on product type.

- Flexible work hours based on client needs and travel schedule.
