What You’ll Do…
Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes
Formulate, build, and apply mathematical modeling and optimization methods to support DOE leadership with decision-making, prioritization, and policy development.
Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data from DOE programs, partners, and TA activities.
Develop decision support tools, models, dashboards, or analytical products to improve program planning, performance evaluation, and resource allocation.
Create and evaluateoptimaltime, cost,logistics, or workflow models used for program implementation, review, or improvement.
Independently prepare analytical summaries, reports, visualizations, and recommendations for senior leadership and cross-office coordination.
Support evaluation of complex technical programs related to energy systems, critical minerals, manufacturing, standards, and technology deployment.
Ensure that analytical outputscomply withDOE regulations, CMEI guidance, and federal advisory andassistanceservice requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for Success
Strong analytical reasoning, mathematical modeling, and optimization skills.
Ability to independently develop models and interpret findings for diverse stakeholders.
Experience with decision science, statistical analysis, or operations research methodologies.
Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn DOE systems such as STRIPES, FAST, PAGE, and PMC.
Clear, structured written and oral communication abilities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while coordinating effectively within multidisciplinary, cross‑agency teams.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: BA/BS or MA/MS degree.
Experience:
3 to 10 years of relevant experience.
Performs all functional duties independently in support of DOE programs and TA activities.
Clearance: Ability to obtain and/ormaintaina federal clearance up to Top Secret/DOE Q clearance levels.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
Prior experience supporting DOE programs, especially those involving critical minerals, energy innovation, manufacturing, or applied energy research.
Experience modeling energy systems, supply chains,logisticsnetworks, or mineral/material flows.
Familiarity with IIJA-funded programs, federal TA processes, and data/reporting structures used by states, Tribes, and other recipients.
Understandingnational standards, building codes, or appliance efficiency programs relevant to the Office of Innovation, Affordability, and Consumer Choice.
Experience evaluating or modeling R&D, commercialization pathways, or deployment outcomes for next‑generation energy technologies.
Ability to translate complex modeling outputs into actionable insights for policy, program design, or implementation decisions.
Experience developing decision support tools or dashboards for federal programs.
Work Environment
Environment: Work will be performed in a climate-controlled office, remotely or possibly on client sites as needed.
