Open application, Senior Bioinformatician (PhD)

We are frequently seeking for experienced bioinformaticians to assume leading roles in various omics research projects. The Senior Bioinformatician positions can be filled fully remotely in a European timezone or at our headquarters in Tampere, Finland.

We are particularly looking for experts in the following areas:

• Cancer Genomics

• Single-Cell Bioinformatics

• Proteomics and Metabolomics

• Epigenomics

What will your main responsibilities be:

• Planning custom, state-of-the-art data analysis workflows with our customers

• Performing the planned and agreed analyses

• Presenting the results to our customers and assisting them in interpreting these results

• Collaborating with our customers to prepare academic publications

What are we expecting from you:

• Post-doctoral research experience and relevant publications

• Familiarity with the analysis of various omics data types

• Proficiency in implementing bioinformatics workflows in Bash / R / Python within an HPC environment

• A solid understanding of one or more areas of biology (eg. cancer biology, immunology, genetics and/or neuroscience)

• Experience in collaborating with experimental scientists and co-authoring omics-intensive research papers

• Enthusiasm for learning both biology and new technologies

• Proficiency in science communication

• Very good communication skills in English: you’re great at listening, finding and conveying information clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

Additional requirements for the specific profiles:

Cancer Genomics

• Expertise in tumor whole-exome and genome analyses

• Familiarity with application areas such as tumor evolution, cell-free DNA, and immuno-oncology

Single-Cell Bioinformatics

• Expertise in single-cell RNA-seq data analysis

• Familiarity with other spatial/single-cell data, such as spatial transcriptomics, single-cell ATAC-seq, and single-cell TCR/BCR-seq

Proteomics and Metabolomics

• Expertise in mass-spec-based proteomic and metabolomic analysis

Epigenomics

• Expertise in analyzing various types of epigenomic sequencing data, such as ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, Hi-C, and BS-seq
