A Brief Overview

The US LBM National Director of Estimating provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the material estimating function across the organization. This role is responsible for driving centralization of people and process from a local, independent approach to realize national scale. The position partners closely with sales leadership and operations to establish service level agreements (SLAs), ensure consistent, high-quality outputs, and continuously refine workflows to maximize accuracy, speed, cost effectiveness and profitability.

What you will do

  • Lead the centralization of locally based estimating resources, including people and process.

  • Partner with sales and operational leadership to establish, manage and refine SLA’s.

  • Establish and manage organizational structure of material estimating for the organization.

  • Determine, define and preserve any critical local market nuance while driving standardization and scalability.

  • Own and continuously improve workflows to enhance speed, accuracy and cost efficiency.

  • Partner with Technology team to drive change management, deployment and adoption of estimating technologies.

  • Assure process of balanced workload across teams and markets to ensure capacity alignment and SLA attainment.

  • Establish accountability for performance, accuracy, timeliness and cost effectiveness.

  • Partner with Sales Leadership to analyze results and adjust accordingly to drive performance.

  • Lead and support people development, succession planning and performance management.

  • Collaborate with enterprise peers to share best practices and advance standardized, best-in-class solutions.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, mathematics, business, or a related field preferred.


Experience Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in residential construction, design, and/or estimating environments.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi‑location or regional teams.

  • Proven track record of process standardization, operational improvement, and change leadership.

  • Experience partnering closely with sales organizations in a service‑driven environment.


Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of residential construction systems, design, and estimating processes.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance standardization and local market needs.

  • Proven leadership, coaching, and accountability‑driven management skills.

  • Strong analytical, financial, and problem‑solving capabilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities across a regional footprint.

  • High level of initiative, flexibility, and attention to detail.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Experience with estimating and design platforms such as SAGE Estimator (PlanSwift), SAGE 300/500, or similar systems preferred.
