Through our Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP), we bring specialized eating disorder treatment directly to patients in an accessible virtual environment while maintaining the connection, structure, and clinical support that are central to EDCare’s treatment philosophy. EDCare is seeking a compassionate and engaging VIOP Milieu Therapist to join our virtual clinical team. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, supportive, and recovery-oriented treatment environment for our patients. Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, the VIOP Milieu Therapist supports virtual group programming, therapeutic meals and snacks, patient engagement, and the overall structure of the virtual milieu. This is an excellent opportunity for a behavioral health professional who enjoys group facilitation, direct patient interaction, and collaborative clinical work and is looking for a consistent part-time evening schedule. The ideal candidate is comfortable building therapeutic rapport in a virtual environment and brings warmth, professionalism, and strong communication skills to their work with patients and colleagues. Schedule: Approximately 10–12 hours per week, primarily between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Please review the full position description below for additional information regarding responsibilities, qualifications, and position requirements.   Subject:                      Position Description Job Title:                    VIOP Milieu Therapist Department:              VIOP Programs:                  VIOP Supervisor:                Program Manager FLSA:                         Non-Exempt, Hourly Date Revised:            September 2026   Summary of Major Functions:  The Milieu Tech/Therapist plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and recovery-oriented virtual treatment environment for individuals with eating disorders. This position combines clinical support, group facilitation, and milieu management to enhance patient engagement, reinforce therapeutic skills, and ensure continuity of care within the VIOP setting.   Duties and Responsibilities Facilitate virtual group therapy, psychoeducation, skills groups, and community-building sessions. Provide supportive check-ins with patients to reinforce treatment goals and encourage skill application. Monitor the virtual milieu to promote safety, participation, and adherence to program guidelines. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team (therapists, dietitians, psychiatrists, etc.) to support individualized treatment plans. Document patient progress, group participation, and notable clinical observations in accordance with program and compliance standards. Assist with meal therapy and snack support, providing encouragement and therapeutic interventions as needed. Promote a culture of openness, respect, and non-judgment to foster a safe and inclusive virtual community. Support crisis management and escalate clinical concerns appropriately to the treatment team. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to ensure alignment with best practices in eating disorder care. Physical Demands and Environment: Physical demands of this job include but are NOT limited to: Sitting frequently, standing occasionally, walking occasionally, talking occasionally, hearing constantly, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands occasionally, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately.  This position requires lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds occasionally.   Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to: 95% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.     Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.   QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Bachelors’ degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or related field required. Experience working with eating disorders and/or higher level of care treatment preferred. Strong skills in group facilitation, therapeutic rapport building, and milieu management preferred. Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills preferred. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.   Preferred Qualities Training in evidence-based practices such as DBT, RO-DBT, CBT, ACT, or FBT for eating disorders. Familiarity with virtual/telehealth platforms and ability to engage patients effectively in an online environment. Compassionate, patient-centered approach with an understanding of diverse backgrounds and identities.
