What you will be doing:
This role is responsible for collaborating with other departments and partnering with Business Data Analysts to develop and integrate data models to meet business needs. You will act as the subject matter expert, translating data insights and analysis into new data models, clarify any questions about data inquiries, and partner with departments to help utilize current data models to their advantage. As a data engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining key business metrics and guiding new data discovery processes to increase efficiency and growth of the department. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Economics) or equivalent professional experience.
Expertise in dbt (data build tool), including macros, packages, and CI/CD integration for data modeling.
2+ years of experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks).
2+ years of experience with SQL and Python, specifically geared toward complex data transformation and automation.
2+ years of experience designing modular data models (Dimensional Modeling, Data Vault, or One Big Table).
Ability to translate complex business logic and metadata into instructions that ensure AI-generated insights are accurate, grounded, and governed.
Proven expertise in end-to-end data pipeline design, focusing on ELT patterns and data quality frameworks.
Strong understanding of data governance, including data lineage, cataloging, and security compliance.
Nice to Have Skills
Experience working with BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and enabling "Self-Service" analytics for business stakeholders.
Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Dagster, Prefect) and version control (Git).
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate, diagram and document complex engineering concepts.
