Accelera Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Microsoft SQL Server DBA / Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) Engineer to support mission-critical healthcare and enterprise systems for the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This role is ideal for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in SQL clustering, high availability, performance tuning, Windows Server, Azure, and enterprise database operations within secure DoD environments. This position focuses heavily on SQL Server clustering, high availability, performance tuning, backup/recovery, database security, Windows Server administration, and Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) platform operations. The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting enterprise-scale Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 environments in regulated or federal environments and is comfortable working across infrastructure, cloud, storage, cybersecurity, and platform engineering teams.QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Experience • 8+ years of experience as a: o SQL Server DBA o Microsoft SQL Server Engineer o Database Administrator o Database Platform Engineer o Infrastructure DBA • Strong hands-on experience with: o Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 o SQL Clustering o Always On Availability Groups o Windows Server administration o SQL performance tuning o Backup and recovery operations Technical Skills: • Microsoft SQL Server Administration • SQL Server Clustering & High Availability • T-SQL Query Optimization • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) • RedGate SQL Monitor • Windows Server • Database Security & Encryption • Disaster Recovery / Backup Solutions • PowerShell scripting Desired:  Certifications One or more preferred: • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) • SQL Server or Azure database certifications • 3+ years supporting Federal Government or DoD environments o Military IT experience qualifies Cloud & DevOps • Microsoft Azure SQL • AWS RDS • Azure / AWS cloud infrastructure • Hybrid cloud database environments • Git / source control • Infrastructure automation Additional Technologies • MariaDB • NoSQL databases • Power BI • SQL Reporting Services (SSRS) • Data Services technologies • Scripting/programming experience Federal / DoD Experience • DHA healthcare IT experience • RMF compliance • STIG remediation • Secure enterprise infrastructure operations Key Responsibilities SQL Server Administration & Engineering • Design, deploy, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 environments • Build and support SQL Server Failover Clusters, Always On Availability Groups, and high-availability solutions • Manage enterprise Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) offerings and hosted SQL environments • Perform SQL Server installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management • Configure and manage SQL instances, databases, logins, permissions, and role-based access controls (RBAC) Performance Tuning & Monitoring • Troubleshoot and resolve complex SQL Server performance issues • Optimize queries, indexes, execution plans, and database configurations • Monitor database health and availability using: o RedGate SQL Monitor o SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) o Native SQL monitoring tools • Implement proactive monitoring and alerting strategies Backup, Recovery & Security • Develop and maintain backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures • Support encryption of data at rest and in transit • Implement database security best practices and compliance controls • Support RMF, STIG, vulnerability remediation, and cybersecurity compliance activities Infrastructure & Cloud Support • Administer Windows Server infrastructure supporting SQL Server environments • Collaborate with storage, virtualization, cloud, and backup teams • Support hybrid and cloud-hosted database environments including: o Microsoft Azure SQL o AWS RDS o Hybrid SQL deployments Automation & DevOps • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell or other scripting languages • Support Git-based configuration management and infrastructure automation • Implement maintenance automation using tools such as Ola Hallengren Maintenance Solution Accelera Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled.
