They also collaborate with Nurse Navigators and the Engagement team to ensure patients receive comprehensive support throughout their cancer journey.

CancerNavigator is an early-stage healthcare company dedicated to supporting cancer patients in their hour of need.

Our Mission & Our Work

Cancer is the number one cause of death for commercially insured Americans and the top cost driver for health plans. Cancer patients are struggling.

CancerNavigator is a white-glove, end-to-end, cancer support service for patients and their families. We work with health plans across the country to provide 1-1 support to members facing a cancer diagnosis. Our support is delivered through dedicated Oncology Certified Nurses (backed by a team of advocates, researchers and analysts), who work with members to catch cancer early, get them to fantastic experts for their care, and help them through the thousands of other problems patients and their families face.

Join us to help serve cancer patients in their hour of need.

The “Member Advocate” Role

Our Member Advocates are the front-line of CancerNavigator’s patient service. As a Member Advocate, you will support patients by:

  • Educating patients on the support available to them and their family through the CancerNavigator Service.
  • Contacting patients in their hour of need to offer support and serving as a first point of contact for incoming inquiries.
  • Answering initial questions about our support.
  • Providing warm handoffs for interested patients to our Nurse Navigators.
  • Collaborating with our Nurse Navigators to assess patients’ needs and to identify the support we can provide.
  • Providing non-clinical patient support by assisting with care coordination efforts, including appointment scheduling, medical record coordination, insurance-related needs, referrals, and other administrative aspects of the patient journey.
  • Collaborating with our Engagement team to develop strategies to reach more patients.

The Requirements

For this role, we are looking for someone with:

  • 1-3 years experience in a patient-facing role (ideally cancer patient-facing): communicating and coordinating with patients about their healthcare needs and problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and collaborate on a team
  • Familiarity working across several systems (e.g. call system, EHR/patient portal, Microsoft Office)
  • Strongly Preferred: Experience placing outreach to engage patients in a program
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
  • A genuine passion for supporting and helping patients and families affected by cancer

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive Starting Salary + Performance Bonuses
  • All-company on-sites 2x per year (currently in Washington, DC and Denver, CO)
  • Medical & Dental Insurance (80% employer paid), Vision Insurance (100% employer paid)
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA
  • Group Life and AD&D Insurance (Involuntary with the option to buy-up coverage)
  • Unlimited PTO, Federal Holidays

Our Culture & Values, In Brief

We’re building a company where what we do matters. The goal couldn’t be clearer – serve cancer patients. As the business grows, and the work becomes more complex, we need to become more, not less, committed to why we are doing this.

We have three company values, which guide our work:

  1. Patients first, always: In everything we do, we put the cancer patient (and their families) first; we exist to serve them in their most urgent moments.
  2. Respect for our responsibility: We strive, as a team, to respect the gravity of the responsibility we bear to patients, always acting and producing in a way that is worthy of the trust they have placed in us.
  3. Kindness to and respect for others: We treat our teammates well, no exceptions. We are one team.

At CancerNavigator, we believe a well-rounded and diverse team is a key to our success. We never discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, or marital, veteran, or disability status.
