Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join Kite, a Gilead company, as a Medical Scientist Associate (MSL) within the Cell Therapy Medical Affairs team in Brazil. This field-based role, reporting to the Brazil Medical Lead, is a critical position responsible not only for engaging with hematology / oncology thought leaders and healthcare professionals across academic and community settings, but also for acting as a strategic scientific partner contributing to the development and execution of local medical strategy. The Medical Scientist Associate will play a central role in advancing Kite’s scientific leadership in CAR-T and cell therapy by driving high-quality peer-to-peer scientific exchange, translating complex clinical data into meaningful insights, and influencing clinical practice and decision-making in a rapidly evolving therapeutic landscape. The role requires the ability to build, develop, and execute structured stakeholder engagement plans, including mapping and segmentation of national and regional opinion leaders, and establishing long-term, trust-based scientific partnerships with key experts, treatment centers, professional societies, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

In addition to traditional MSL responsibilities, this role is expected to act as a key connector within the broader CAR-T ecosystem, supporting the optimization of the patient journey from referral to treatment and long-term follow-up, and contributing to the development of treatment center readiness and capability. The Medical Scientist Associate will actively contribute to evidence generation strategies by supporting clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, registries, and real-world evidence initiatives, as well as identifying scientific gaps and opportunities to advance patient care. The role will also generate actionable insights from field interactions, translating external perspectives into strategic recommendations that inform medical planning, access strategies, and cross-functional decision-making. Collaboration across functions is essential, including close partnership with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Safety, and Medical Communications to ensure alignment and maximize impact.

The individual will be responsible for delivering high-impact scientific presentations, leading and organizing medical events such as advisory boards and consultant meetings, supporting congress activities, and contributing to speaker development and training programs. They will serve as a trusted scientific resource by responding to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries and ensuring compliant, accurate, and balanced communication of clinical information. The role requires engagement beyond physicians, including interactions with nurses, pharmacists, multidisciplinary teams, patient advocacy groups, and other healthcare stakeholders, reflecting the complexity of the treatment landscape and the need for a holistic approach to patient care. The Medical Scientist Associate will also leverage digital tools and innovative engagement methods to enhance scientific exchange and education, adapting to modern, hybrid models of interaction.

All activities must be conducted in full compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards, maintaining a non-promotional approach and ensuring proper documentation of scientific interactions. The role demands a high level of scientific expertise in hematology, oncology, and cell therapy, combined with strong strategic thinking, prioritization skills, and the ability to manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. A patient-centric mindset is essential, with a clear focus on improving outcomes by addressing unmet medical needs and enabling access to advanced therapies. The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree such as MD, PharmD, or PhD, with significant clinical or research experience in relevant therapeutic areas, and prior industry experience—preferably in oncology or hematology launches. Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and matrixed organization. Fluency in Portuguese and English is mandatory, and the role requires frequent travel within Brazil and internationally and occasional travel on weekends
