Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

  • Deliver virtual teleconsultations and coordinate patient care.
  • Conduct video / audio GP teleconsultations via the Virtual Care platform, performing clinical history-taking and assessment.
  • Issue prescriptions and clinical advice in accordance with AKUH protocols, applicable SOPs, and drug safety requirements (excluding controlled substances as per platform policy).
  • Identify red-flag / emergency conditions and promptly advise patients to attend the nearest health facility or emergency department.
  • Guide patients on available add-on virtual services (pharmacy delivery, home lab collection, homecare, nutrition, wellness tracker).
  • Document all encounters accurately in the virtual care system
  • Provide tele/visual counselling for antibiotics, chronic medications, and high-alert medicines (insulin, anticoagulants) as per defined SOP.
  • Review and approve clinical documentation for home lab collection and homecare service orders.
  • Participate in clinical validation of AI-generated vital sign alerts and wellness tracker data to guide patient management.
  • Continually enhance clinical competencies within the virtual care setting under supervision of the Physician Lead and senior faculty.
  • Participate in teleconsultation-specific training sessions and onboarding programs.
  • Attend CME sessions, Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs, and virtual care quality reviews as applicable.
  • Comply with infection control and patient safety standards applicable to virtual care.
  • Contribute to platform KPI monitoring, audit activities, and adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting.
  • Conduct approximately 24 teleconsultation sessions per working day.
  • Attend / present at CME sessions or health awareness sessions at least 2× per year.
  • Show compliance with any assigned task by the Physician Lead or Department Chair.


Requirements:

You should have:

  • MBBS degree with valid PMDC licensure
  • At least 2 years post-MBBS clinical experience
  • Sound clinical knowledge of common adult and pediatric conditions managed in primary / family medicine.
  • Ability to conduct safe and effective clinical assessments through video, audio, or text-based channels.
  • Familiarity with teleconsultation platforms, electronic health records (EHR/HMIS), and virtual care workflows.
  • Ability to issue, authenticate, and communicate e-prescriptions in accordance with defined protocols and applicable regulations.
  • Competence in identifying red-flag symptoms and escalating to appropriate in-person or emergency services.
  • Ability to coordinate seamlessly with virtual care add-on services (pharmacy, lab, homecare, nutrition).
  • Strong patient counselling skills; ability to adapt communication style to diverse patient backgrounds and literacy levels.
  • Ability to maintain continuous, open communication with the Physician Lead, nursing staff, agents, and patients.
  • Good decision-making skills based on clinical evidence and multi-factorial assessment.
  • Commitment to infection control practices, patient safety, and ethical clinical conduct.
  • Proficiency in completing digital clinical documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to participate in quality improvement, audit, and CME activities within the virtual care service.
