The Medical Data Reviewer is responsible for reviewing electronic patient care reports for accuracy and compliance with billing and medical necessity standards. They also ensure adherence to state, county, and federal regulations while maintaining professional communication with internal and external entities.
This position handles PBS Department tasks to ensure compliance with the Pinellas County Ambulance Service Agreement.
Major Duties and Responsibilities may include:
- Prompt and regular attendance at work.
- Employees permitted to work some of their shifts remotely are required to sign a telecommunicating policy/agreement regarding expectations and responsibility for any I.T. equipment provided.
- Review electronic patient care reports (PCRs) for completion to include all billing fields, mileage, documentation of medical necessity, necessary signatures, etc.
- Adhere to productivity and accuracy standards established by the department supervisor to ensure timely submission of the Pinellas County ePCRs and minimize returns due to errors.
- Identify and collect any required forms including Patient Certification Statements (PCS), face sheets, etc.
- Ensure compliance with state, county, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations.
- Interact professionally with other departments and outside entities.
- Participate in departmental and company meetings as required.
- Performs other such duties as may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic typing/computer skills; ability to work in web-based data systems
- Medical Terminology preferred
