IOU Billing Services in Montgomery, NY is looking for a detail-oriented Medical Biller & Eligibility Specialist to join their growing team. Responsibilities:
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance carriers, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid payers
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to and during the billing cycle
- Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments through appeals and follow-up
- Post payments, adjustments, and patient balances accurately in billing software
- Communicate with insurance companies, providers, and patients to resolve billing inquiries
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and payer-specific billing guidelines
Requirements:
- 1–3 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or eligibility verification for Mental Health required
- 1-3 years of proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) Advanced MD required
- Work hours 11am-7pm and some weekends
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing processes
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- CPC, CPB, or related billing/coding certification is a plus
