We are looking for a Manger, Regulatory Affairs who will join our  team.      

The Manager, Regulatory Affairs will oversee the strategic development and execution of federal and state regulatory compliance and product registration strategies. This role focuses on Federal and state FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) registrations as well as state fertilizer compliance.
As a regulatory leader, you will directly manage a team of 5–10 regulatory professionals, driving process improvements, overseeing complex registration projects, and serving as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies (EPA and state departments of agriculture). Additionally, you will be a key internal collaborator, mentoring staff and building robust cross-functional relationships to support business growth and compliance.

In this role you will :    

Team Leadership & People Management - Manage and develop a team of regulatory affairs professionals.  Allocate workload and manage team resource capacity across federal and state registration projects to ensure business priorities are met.  Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear KPIs, and foster a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team culture.  Lead internal training initiatives to elevate the team’s technical knowledge regarding FIFRA and AAPFCO requirements.
Regulatory Intelligence & Freedom to Operate - Monitor and analyze evolving federal and state regulations, legislative changes, and enforcement trends that impact the industry.  Advocate for regulatory positions that protect and defend the company’s freedom to operate, proactively identifying risks to existing product lines or future pipelines.  Represent the company on industry task forces, trade associations (e.g., CLA, HCPA, TFI, AAPFCO), and technical committees to influence emerging policies and data requirements. 

Federal & State FIFRA Registrations - Oversee and guide the team in the preparation, submission, and maintenance of EPA FIFRA registrations (Section 3, Section 24(c), and Section 18 exemptions).  Manage the full lifecycle of state-level pesticide actions.  Monitor and interpret evolving EPA and state-specific registration requirements to ensure uninterrupted market access.  Serve as the escalation point for responding to agency registration decisions and negotiating favorable registration outcomes.
Project Management & Process Improvement - Develop, track, and execute regulatory timelines for new product launches, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget. Evaluate existing regulatory workflows and implement process improvements to increase team submission efficiency and reduce time-to-market.  Maintain accurate, centralized regulatory databases for tracking submission statuses, approvals, and compliance deadlines.

State Fertilizer Compliance & Registration - Oversee the registration and compliance of fertilizer, soil amendment, and biostimulant products across all target states.  Ensure team review of product formulations, claims, and labels strictly adheres to Association of American Plant Food Control Officials (AAPFCO) guidelines and specific state regulations.  Provide strategic oversight navigating complex state-by-state variations in fertilizer labeling requirements.

What you'll need to be successful:

- Bachelor's Degree, Biology, chemistry, engineering, toxicology, crop science                        

-Required: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a regulatory affairs leadership role, with a focus on product registration, project management, and process improvement.

-Proven track record of successfully managing and developing a team of 5–10 direct reports within a corporate regulatory environment.   -Demonstrated success in building and maintaining highly collaborative relationships both internally and externally.  

-Must have demonstrated success in building external and internal relationships that includes training and mentoring others. 

Desired:

-Specific experience registering lawn and garden pesticides, fertilizers and fertilizer/pesticide combination products.  

-Experience with APHIS, OMRI or other lawn and garden regulations is a plus.

-Extensive, hands-on experience with EPA FIFRA regulations and state-level pesticide/fertilizer registration protocols.
- The ability to anticipate regulatory shifts, draft persuasive technical arguments, and influence policy via industry task forces to protect the company's Freedom to Operate.
-  Experience translating complex regulations into repeatable workflows and SOPs to effectively manage and upskill a team of 5–10 regulatory professionals.
- Establish and monitor team-wide KPIs to measure submission accuracy and cycle times.

-Champion the adoption of technology and digital tools to automate tracking, eliminate workflow bottlenecks, and optimize speed-to-market for new product introductions.
 

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $111,500.00 - $131,200.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
