Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Lawyer with strong UK litigation experience to support our client's legal practice. The successful candidate will manage and assist with a broad range of contentious matters, providing practical legal advice, preparing court documentation, conducting legal research, and progressing disputes from initial instruction through to resolution.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with UK civil and commercial litigation, a strong understanding of court procedures and the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), and excellent legal drafting and case management skills. This role is suited to a commercially minded litigator who can confidently manage matters, communicate directly with clients and stakeholders, and work effectively with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support a broad range of civil and commercial litigation matters.

  • Advise clients on disputes, litigation strategy, potential risks, and available remedies.

  • Draft pleadings, particulars of claim, defences, witness statements, applications, legal correspondence, and other litigation documentation.

  • Manage matters in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and relevant court directions.

  • Conduct legal research and prepare clear, practical legal advice.

  • Assist with pre-action correspondence and compliance with applicable pre-action protocols.

  • Manage disclosure exercises, including reviewing, organizing, and preparing relevant documents.

  • Prepare hearing and trial bundles, chronologies, evidence, and instructions to counsel.

  • Liaise with clients, opposing solicitors, barristers, experts, courts, and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor limitation periods, court deadlines, directions, and procedural requirements.

  • Assist with settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution, including mediation.

  • Review evidence and advise on the strengths, risks, and commercial considerations of claims and defences.

  • Manage multiple litigation files and competing deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.

  • Maintain accurate matter files, correspondence, and case records.

  • Provide professional, responsive, and commercially focused client service.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB), JD, or equivalent legal qualification.

  • 3+ years of litigation experience, with demonstrated experience working on UK legal matters.

  • Strong experience in civil and/or commercial litigation.

  • Practical knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), court procedures, and litigation deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience drafting pleadings, witness statements, applications, and other court documentation.

  • Experience managing disclosure, evidence, hearing preparation, and trial bundles.

  • Strong legal research, drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with settlement negotiations, mediation, or other forms of dispute resolution is highly regarded.

  • Ability to independently manage litigation matters and prioritize competing deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Strong client-facing skills and the confidence to communicate with counsel, courts, experts, and opposing solicitors.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Experience using UK legal practice management or document management systems is advantageous.

  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
