Knowesis is seeking a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Administrator / Crystal Reports Writer to enhance, automate, and optimize Crystal Reports through data consolidation, SQL troubleshooting, and analytical problem‑solving. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise and hands‑on laboratory support experience, with the ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable information while maintaining efficient LIMS functionality, supporting end‑users, and contributing to professional public health reports and documentation.

This position requires a Public Trust and U.S. Citizenship (applicants without proof of US citizenship will not be considered due to the position’s security clearance requirement).

The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Perform application administration functions within StarLIMS and related systems.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Provide helpdesk-style support to laboratory staff, resolving user and system issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues using SQL, logs, and system tools.
  • Write Crystal Reports, SQL queries, views, and stored procedures to extract and transform data from SQL Server.
  • Validate Crystal Reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity.
  • Monitor report performance and implement corrective actions to optimize speed and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain a variety of Crystal Report formats, including:
    • Tabular
    • Drill‑down
    • Matrix
    • Charts
  • Support both standard recurring reports and ad hoc data requests.
  • Develop and prepare technical public health reports, charts, tables, and presentations.
  • Produce business process documentation, data flow diagrams, and system usage guides.
  • Communicate findings and technical information clearly through written and oral reports.
  • Collaborate with laboratory, epidemiology, and informatics teams to support data-driven decision-making.
  • This is a remote position. 

    Required Skills & Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Information Management, or a closely related field is required.
    • Minimum 3 years of Crystal Reports development experience, preferably supporting a laboratory environment.
    • Demonstrated experience working with relational databases and SQL Server.
    • At least 3 years of StarLIMS experience (Public Health experience strongly preferred).
    • Experience providing technical support or helpdesk services.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Critical thinking and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
    • U.S. citizenship required.  

      Preferred Qualification: 

      • SQL Server certification.
      • Experience in a Public Health Laboratory or similar regulated laboratory environment.
      • Experience with HL7, ELR, or laboratory data standards.
      • Experience with data visualization tools or dashboards (e.g., Power BI).
