AI Summary

Deliver virtual cardiac rehab care by evaluating prescriptions and treating patients according to clinical protocols. Provide holistic coaching across nutrition, stress management, and group support while collaborating with a transdisciplinary team to improve digital care delivery.

About Carda

Rehab is a pain. So much so that only 10% of qualifying Cardiac and Pulmonary patients attend, which results in complications for patients and at least $190B in costs. At Carda Health, we’ve reimagined rehab. Our program allows patients to complete engaging, compassionate, and life-saving rehabilitation remotely.

Who are we?

We are a team of data scientists, mathematicians, repeat entrepreneurs, and clinicians. And one recovering financier. Our united belief is that technology and data, when applied ethically and compassionately, can transform individuals’ lives and fundamentally change even the most entrenched industries. Carda was founded by Harry and Andrew, two friends from Wharton who share a family history of heart disease and experience with Cardiac Rehab. We now work with some of America’s largest and top-ranked hospitals and most innovative insurers. We are fortunate to be backed by some of the best seed investors in the business who have also backed the likes of Livongo, Mammoth Biosciences, and Ro to name a few.

Who are you?

You are a talented Clinical Exercise Physiologist who will deliver care and support to our patients throughout our flagship virtual cardiac rehab program. Uniquely, you will operate as a core member of an ICR transdisciplinary team, leveraging a collaborative lifestyle medicine framework across four specific elements: Nutrition, Stress Management, Group Support, and Exercise. You, like us, believe in the power of telehealth to expand access to life saving care and ultimately reinvent the way Americans receive healthcare. You will play a defining role in the success of the groundbreaking clinical studies we are running with world leading health systems in Pennsylvania and New York. If you are passionate about doing whatever it takes to help people in need and transforming the way millions of people receive life saving care then please apply!

In this role, you will

  • Evaluate prescriptions and treat cardiac rehab patients according to our clinical protocols.
  • Take pride in delivering high quality care for patients going through our cardiac rehab program and our clinical studies.
  • Wear many hats: anything from providing education during our Lifestyle Classes to responding to patients’ technical issues.
  • Work directly with founders to innovate and improve our cutting edge digital care delivery model.
  • Provide support to our patients, empowering them to be accountable and take ownership of their rehabilitation.
  • Work collaboratively with our technology team to support a smooth experience for our patients and clients
  • Actively engage in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team approach, serving as a primary catalyst for healing and patient connection.
  • Maintain a basic understanding of all four program element guidelines to support holistic, multi-directional patient education.
  • Be willing to do whatever it takes to ensure a great, engaging rehab experience for our patients.

Lifestyle CEP Element Responsibilities:

Lifestyle CEPs will be competent in teaching one or more elements of ICR after going through Carda Health’s training to become certified Ornish Lifestyle Medicine providers.

Nutrition

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge and competency of a very low-fat, low-sugar, whole foods plant-based (WFPB) lifestyle and its role in disease reversal and biological mechanisms.
  • Educate and coach patients to practically adopt, meal plan, grocery shop, read labels, cook, and dine out according to reversal nutrition guidelines.
  • Teach participants how nutrition works synergistically alongside stress management, physical activity, and social support to address drivers of cardiovascular disease.

Stress Management

  • Guide patients through the five core Ornish ICR stress management techniques: gentle postures, mindful breathing, progressive relaxation, healing imagery, and meditation.
  • Educate patients on the physiological impacts of stress on blood pressure, heart rate, angina/chest pain, blood vessel spasms, clot formation, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.
  • Coach patients to adopt the daily 60-minute stress management prescription into their personal schedules.
