The Liferay Administrator will install, configure, and maintain Liferay Portal/DXP environments across development, staging, and production. They are responsible for managing system performance, security, clustering, and supporting deployment operations in collaboration with infrastructure teams.
We are looking for an experienced Liferay Administrator with 5+ years of experience to install, configure,
maintain, and support Liferay Portal/DXP environments across development, staging, and production. The
ideal candidate will ensure platform availability, performance, security, and smooth deployment operations,
working closely with development and infrastructure teams.This role is based in Egypt, working remotely to support the organization's operations and systems in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Liferay Portal/DXP across all environments (Dev, QA, Staging, Production)
Manage Liferay clustering, load balancing, and high-availability configurations
Perform Liferay version upgrades, patching, and hotfix deployments
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize portal uptime and response times
Manage deployment of portlets, themes, and modules to production environments
Administer user accounts, roles, permissions, organizations, and sites within Liferay
Configure and maintain integrations with LDAP/Active Directory, SSO (SAML/OAuth), and other enterprise
systems
Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures for the portal environment
Configure and maintain search infrastructure (Elasticsearch/Solr) and caching layers (Ehcache/Hazelcast)
Manage database administration tasks related to Liferay (MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle)
Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build and deployment of Liferay artifacts
Perform security hardening, vulnerability assessments, and apply security patches
Collaborate with development teams to support environment needs and troubleshoot deployment issues
Maintain documentation of server configurations, deployment procedures, and runbooks
Provide on-call/production support and resolve incidents within SLAs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years of overall IT infrastructure/administration experience, with at least 3+ years administering Liferay
Portal/DXP
Strong experience with Liferay installation, configuration, clustering, and deployment (7.x/DXP preferred)
Hands-on experience with application servers (Tomcat, JBoss/WildFly, WebLogic, or WebSphere)
Proficiency in Linux/Unix server administration and shell scripting
Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) — installation, tuning, and
backup/restore
Knowledge of Elasticsearch/Solr configuration and maintenance
Experience with LDAP/Active Directory and SSO integration (SAML/OAuth)
Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and build tools (Maven/Gradle)
Understanding of networking, load balancers, and reverse proxies (Apache/Nginx)
Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Nagios, Grafana, ELK stack)
Knowledge of security best practices, SSL/TLS configuration, and patch management
Strong troubleshooting and incident resolution skills
Liferay Certified Administrator certification
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes) for Liferay deployments
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) for hosting Liferay environments
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible)
Familiarity with Liferay Cloud/DXP Cloud offerings
