Job DetailsJob Location: ARCH - Williamsport, PA 17701Position Type: 2 PROFESSIONALEducation Level: Graduate DegreeTravel Percentage: NegligibleJob Shift: Part TimeUnder the direction of the Supervisor, Collection Development, the Librarian - Selector serves as a subject matter expert in library materials for Brodart's customers.  This position focuses on title level selection but also provides a librarian's perspective for various sales, marketing and data activities.   Selects titles for Brodart programs and website lists, exercising sound judgment to evaluate the suitability of the item for its intended audience. Selects titles for custom selection lists and/or performs vendor selection for specific customers and projects, to include Opening Day Collections and ongoing vendor selection. Serves as a resource for questions, data issues and corrections, market trends and other information relating to titles in the genre of expertise. Assists with departmental projects such as source maintenance, review of FASTips authors and series lists, testing of customer-facing software. Serves as Adult material subject matter expert, with special focus on publishing trends in adult fiction, nonfiction, sources for related news, and attention paid to adult literature awards. Assists with other department/division projects and in cross-functional problem-solving teams as required. Qualifications Masters Degree in Library Science, ALA-accredited preferred, with demonstrated knowledge of collection development and management of material selection. Experience in a public library or in a related field preferred. Knowledgeable about publishing in one or more collection categories, including publishers, authors and subject trends. Understands the selection patterns of US public libraries. Familiarity with Brodart systems and services preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications, Internet and bibliographic databases. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time, deadlines and prioritize tasks. Possess intellectual curiosity and commitment to staying abreast of professional literature and trends. Strong oral and written communication skills. Remote office environment; close and distant vision, using hands and fingers to handle and feel, talk and hear, sitting.
