Identified Position – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Applicants Only
This is an Identified Position and is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At St Vincent's Health Australia, we are committed to increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce participation and creating a culturally safe health service that delivers better outcomes for First Nations peoples.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to experience significant inequities in health, employment and access to culturally safe healthcare. Increasing First Nations representation within our workforce is an important step towards addressing these disparities and improving access to culturally responsive mental health services.
This recruitment process is being undertaken solely to promote genuine equality of opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and forms part of St Vincent's Health Australia's broader commitment to reconciliation, culturally safe care and improving health outcomes for First Nations communities.
For positions located in Victoria and Queensland, this recruitment process is intended to constitute a lawful Special Measure/Equal Opportunity Measure under:
Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic); and
Sections 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
The measure is considered necessary because Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples remain significantly under-represented across the health workforce and continue to experience disadvantage in employment and health outcomes. Its sole purpose is to promote equal opportunity by increasing First Nations representation, strengthening culturally safe service delivery and improving access to care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
For positions located in New South Wales, St Vincent's Health Australia considers Aboriginality and/or Torres Strait Islander identity to be a genuine occupational qualification under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
