Lead Software Engineer, Platform

About the Role

Join a platform engineering team building and operating the infrastructure behind an AI document processing product. You will strengthen the systems that run customer workloads, partnering closely with machine learning engineers to improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Own and improve the platform that processes customer jobs, with a focus on speed, reliability, and efficient use of resources.

• Partner with machine learning teams to serve models effectively and integrate them into production workflows.

• Build and maintain infrastructure for databases, task orchestration, workload scheduling, and cloud deployments.

• Address distributed systems challenges involving latency, reliability, and scaling as workload volume grows.

• Participate in on-call rotations and take end-to-end ownership of platform health.

What We're Looking For

• At least 5 years of platform or backend engineering experience, including work with distributed systems.

• Experience building and scaling core infrastructure in both startup and mature, fast-paced environments.

• A blend of infrastructure and application-level development experience, rather than a background limited to DevOps.

• Proficiency in Python, or deep expertise in Go or Rust and willingness to work in Python.

• Hands-on experience with task orchestration, platform reliability, cloud infrastructure, and on-call support.

• Experience optimizing model serving and operating production systems at scale.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $220,000 to $320,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is available.

Remote within the United States, with San Francisco, California as the primary location.
