Position Title: Lead E commerce Engineer

Seniority: Senior

Location:  Remote

 What you will be doing:

•  Develop and optimize scalable web applications using TypeScript, React, Next.js (App Router, SSR/SSG/ISR), and Redux.

•  Design, build, and version REST and/or GraphQL APIs using Node.js with robust error handling.

•  Architect and manage serverless backend infrastructure on AWS utilizing Lambda, Batch, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, CloudFront, and DynamoDB.

• Implement and manage event-driven architectures and webhooks using SQS, SNS, SES, and EventBridge, ensuring message ordering and idempotency.

• Optimize frontend delivery for Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP), image optimization, code splitting, and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility.

• Manage Elasticsearch clusters (index design, relevance tuning, reindexing) and Redis caching strategies (cache invalidation, TTLs, rate limiting).

• Follow trunk-based development with short-lived branches, small frequent merges, and feature flags to ship code safely.

• Maintain observability and monitoring using structured logging, metrics, and distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry) via CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana.

• Conduct thoughtful code reviews and maintain secure coding practices (OWASP Top 10) and secrets management.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, React, Next.js, and Node.js.

• Strong experience with responsive, mobile-first design using Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap.

• Deep understanding of AWS serverless ecosystems, event queues, and IAM fundamentals (least-privilege access).

• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and data modeling.

• Proven background in automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright,or Cypress).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) including automated testing gates and safe rollback.

• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CDK, or SAM) and Docker/containerization basics.

• Production on-call experience and incident response capabilities, including writing postmortems.

Nice to Have Skills:

• CMS / visual builder experience (Builder.io highly preferred, or Contentful, Sanity, Strapi).

• Payment processor integrations (Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, or Authorize.net) including fraud prevention,tokenization, and reconciliation.

• Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance scope and securing card data.

• E-commerce domain knowledge (carts, checkout flows, inventory, order management).

• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools as part of a daily workflow.

Soft Skills:

• Strong ownership, with comfort shipping small increments to production frequently.

• Clear written and verbal communication with product, design, and business partners.

• Willingness to mentor others and share knowledge across the engineering team.
