Job Description

Snowflake Cortex Engineer - 4C

Primary Responsibilities

Snowflake Cortex & AI Solution Development

• Design, develop, and implement AI-powered solutions using Snowflake Cortex capabilities.
• Develop applications utilizing Cortex AI functions including COMPLETE, SUMMARIZE, TRANSLATE, SENTIMENT, EXTRACT_ANSWER, and Cortex Search.
• Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions leveraging enterprise data stored within Snowflake.
• Develop and maintain Snowpark Python applications integrated with Cortex AI services.
• Create semantic data models and AI-ready datasets for business consumption.
• Design and optimize prompts, prompt templates, and AI workflows for enterprise use cases.
• Develop chatbots, intelligent search solutions, document intelligence applications, and AI-assisted analytics capabilities.

Data Engineering & AI Integration

• Integrate structured and unstructured data into Snowflake for AI and machine learning use cases.
• Develop ingestion pipelines for documents, PDFs, knowledge bases, and semi-structured data sources.
• Implement vector embeddings, vector search, and semantic retrieval solutions.
• Support Cortex Search Service implementation and optimization.
• Work with business teams to identify AI use cases and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Build reusable AI engineering frameworks and accelerators.

Model Management & Optimization

• Evaluate LLM performance and optimize prompts to improve accuracy and relevance.
• Monitor AI application performance, usage, and operational metrics.
• Implement guardrails, validation mechanisms, and human-in-the-loop processes where required.
• Optimize Snowflake Cortex workloads for performance and cost efficiency.

Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate with Data Engineers, Architects, Data Scientists, and Business Stakeholders.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior team members.
• Assist in defining standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices for Cortex implementations.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Participate in Proof of Concepts (POCs) involving GenAI and Snowflake AI capabilities.
• Maintain technical documentation, AI solution design documents, and operational runbooks.
• Support AI governance, responsible AI, and compliance initiatives.
• Stay current with Snowflake Cortex, LLM, and Generative AI advancements.
• Provide L3 support for Cortex-related production issues.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7-10 years of Data Engineering, Analytics, or AI Engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Snowflake development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex AI services.
• Strong Python and Snowpark development experience.
• Experience with LLMs, Prompt Engineering, RAG architectures, and Vector Databases.
• Strong SQL and data modeling skills.
• Experience working with unstructured and semi-structured data.
• Familiarity with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or comparable LLM ecosystems.
