Salary Range:

$57,500.00 - $67,000.00 USD annually.

Within ASU Prep Digital, Khan World School (KWS) Guides will work collaboratively with a team of other Guides to ensure the collective success of a roster of students in their KWS student cohorts. Further, KWS Guides will work closely with a cohort of students and families, their Guide Group, to create true digital communities of practice.

Khan World School Guides are responsible for making knowledge accessible to all students, developing student’s cognitive capacity, and respect for learning. Implementation of the unique KWS program differentiators include: live seminars, college preparations and advisement, and coordination of support for learners across several subject areas. In addition, KWS Guides foster students’ self-esteem, motivation, and sense of civic responsibility and leadership. Guides should exhibit ongoing professional growth with the development of a variety of engaging instructional materials and strategies for a virtual setting, while maintaining frequent communication with parents about students’ academic progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Post Bachelors in Education from an accredited college or university, Master’s degree preferred.

• State Aligned Teaching Certificate (appropriate endorsements may be required depending on the area of instruction or have passed appropriate AEPA or NES proficiency exams), AZ State Teaching Cert, preferred. 

• 3+ years of classroom experience, 6-12 online teaching experience, preferred. 

• Online teaching experience a plus

• Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

• Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works collaboratively with a team of KWS Guides to design, develop, and deliver seminar or live lesson instruction to support students in reading, writing, spelling, language and vocabulary, math, science, social studies, technology, college advising, and/or problem-solving. Delivers a uniquely student-centered approach with specific and detailed feedback on all work for the goal of students achieving proficiency or mastery. Primarily, the KWS Guide will:

• Teach in one or more subject areas developing a scope and sequence as well as engaging materials that promote students’ progress towards mastery of essential learning standards. 

• Provide academic advisement and support to a cohort of students.

• Co-teach and collaborate regularly with colleagues.

• Focus on student motivation, unblocking academic or social-emotional hurdles, and guiding students through student-driven learning.

• Create the context and conditions for student independence.

• Question, prompt, or provide short explanations, but rarely lectures. 

• Determines instruction techniques, strategies, methods and adapts curriculum and learning styles to meet and assess student’s needs.

• Maintains open lines of communication with parents/guardians about academic and discipline issues through various mediums.

• Monitor student progress and use ASUPD data systems activities related to curriculum programs and initiatives.

• Liaises for coordination of student recruitment and enrollment management utilizing knowledge of admissions, registration criteria, and deadlines for a cohort of students.

• Develops individualized learning plans for advisees to prepare for high school and/or college. 

• Design, construct, and outline lessons and seminar material.

• Assesses and evaluates performance and progress of students’ grades, progress reports, and assessing comprehension of learning objectives.

• Participates in virtual extra-curricular activities such as clubs, family events, evening performances, or preparations and coordinating of any other aspect of public demonstration of student learning.

• Maintains confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer being employed or enrolled.

• Organizes and plans community events; virtual and/or in person. 

• Assists in the well-being of students the fundamental value in all decision making.

• Contributes to professional growth of self and colleagues including sharing and planning curriculum, staying current with educational trends, and continuing professional growth to meet the state and school requirements including current teaching certificates.

• Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program.

• Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive of learning.

• Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
