The Opportunity:  

Working remotely in Huron County and Southwestern Ontario with others in the Exeter Lakeshore Times Advance and Goderich Signal-Star newsrooms, the ideal candidate is an enterprising self-starter and team player with a sense for stories that resonate with Huron County's diverse readership. The candidate should be able to cultivate sources and find interesting community-focused stories while writing in a way that is clear, concise and engaging.  

What you'll do:

• Reporting and writing stories for print, web and mobile audiences – as well as tailoring content to meet the varying needs of those platforms.  
• Initiating and developing ideas for daily coverage, enterprise stories and investigative projects.  
• Cultivating sources and establishing expertise to provide a broad range of stories that reflect Huron County. 
• Taking photographs to illustrate local events and complement news stories

Who you are:

• A university degree, college diploma or equivalent real-world experience in journalism. 
• Flexibility to write effectively in breaking news, features and short form is essential.  
• A keen interest in community journalism is critical to the role.  
• Experience in photography is an asset. 

Compensation:

Employment offers presented to the selected candidate are based on a combination of qualifications, experience, responsibilities of the role and the candidate's location. 

Pay Rate: $34,230 - $42,000
