AI Summary

The role involves a hybrid split between design and frontend engineering, focusing on building components in Figma and implementing them in Next.js and Tailwind. The engineer will own the translation layer between design intent and production code while integrating AI tools into the workflow.

At CI&T, we help large enterprises transform the potential of AI into real business impact with AI Deployment, AI-native execution, and tech-integrated business solutions.

With 30 years of experience in technological transformation, we accelerate innovation with expertise in Agentic SDLC, Application modernization, Data & AI, Martech and Business strategy.

We are 8,000 CI&Ters across more than 25 countries, collaborating to build solutions with real impact. AI is already part of how we work, evolve, and innovate every day.

Please note: The candidate should be open to work on Mexico City timezone.

We're looking for a hybrid Designer/Frontend Engineer to join a cross-functional product team. You'll work fluidly across Figma and code — prototyping, building, and shipping UI at speed. This isn't a "designer who codes a little" or a "developer with good taste" — it's a genuine hybrid role where both sides matter.
The split is roughly 60% design / 40% frontend, though it shifts by sprint depending on what the team needs most.

Language: English (required), Spanish (nice to have)

What You'll Do
  • Build and document components in Figma using an existing design system
  • Prototype interactions and layouts in Figma for stakeholder and user testing
  • Implement those same components and features in Next.js + Tailwind when speed or technical fidelity matters more than mockups
  • Own the translation layer between design intent and production code — reducing handoff friction
  • Use AI tools daily: Figma AI assistants, coding assistants, and autonomous agents as part of your standard workflow
  • Help evolve and expand the team's AI tooling ecosystem — experimenting with new tools and sharing what works
  • User-Centered Design (UCD) & Strategy
  • Deep Research & Insights
  • End-to-End UX Architecture
  • Design-to-Code Systems
  •  Frontend Execution & Prototyping
  • High-Fidelity Engineering
  • Rapid Prototyping
  • Eliminate Handoff Friction
  • AI-Native Workflow Multipliers
  • Workflow Integration
  • Ecosystem Innovation

What We're Looking For
Design side:

Strong Figma skills — component construction, variants, auto layout, prototyping
Familiarity with working within and contributing to an established design system
Good eye for visual detail and UX patterns
An understanding of the user-centered design process (UCD).
An understanding of solving business challenges with design solutions.
An understanding of UX Research methods.

Frontend side:

Solid Next.js and Tailwind CSS experience
Comfortable building a real, interactive UI from a design spec
Understands the difference between a prototype and production-ready code — and when each is appropriate

General:

Bachelor's degree with a focus in these related areas of study: HCI, Interaction Design, Art Direction, or a design-focused qualification
Minimum 3-4 years of design experience
Fluent in Spanish. Client meetings are held in Spanish, so the candidate must understand Spanish
Minimum B1 in English. English is used in internal meetings.

Mindset:
AI-native: you already use AI tools regularly and have a point of view on what works
Business Minded: You naturally anchor stunning visual design and seamless micro-interactions into solving core E-commerce business challenges (conversion funnels, average order value, retention).
Storyteller & Communicator: Exceptional presentation skills to convey design thinking to multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients at all levels.
Fluent in English for async collaboration with an international team
Comfortable switching context between design and code within the same day or sprint

You Should Have:
  • Flexible/adaptable working style
  • Comfortable with collaboration
  • Passionate about delivering high-quality work
  • Positive attitude
  • Detailed and organized
  • Excellent communicator
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Responsible and capable of meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience in storytelling and design presentation skills
  • Experience in E-commerce
