The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution that was created by the US Congress to serve as America’s national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educational institution dedicated to the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The Museum seeks to educate Americans from all 50 states and all walks of life as well as international audiences. The Museum has three areas of expertise: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust scholarship and education, and genocide prevention.

Information About the Role and the Office:
The internship position within the Museum Experience and Digital Media office offers the opportunity to use your research, analytics, and organizational skills to improve the Museum’s digital products, including the Holocaust Encyclopedia. You will monitor AI tools and track USHMM citations as part of an effort to understand how popular LLMs are surfacing USHMM content in generated outputs. You will participate in on-page-optimization efforts to improve the visibility of Holocaust Encyclopedia pages in search results. You will track Google keywords to identify search trends. You will review and organize ID cards of Holocaust victims and survivors to help make their stories more discoverable. Additionally, you will write alt text for Holocaust Encyclopedia images to facilitate accessibility. Training will be provided to allow to you to complete these tasks successfully. This role will allow you to gain experience with tracking analytics and optimizing online content for visibility and discoverability, while contributing to the Museum’s mission of inspiring citizens and leaders worldwide to confront hatred, prevent genocide, and promote human dignity.
This position resides within the office of Museum Experience and Digital Media (MEDM). The Museum Experience and Digital Media office (MEDM) creates and maintains experiences in physical and digital spaces that encourage people to think about how and why the Holocaust happened and the lessons it holds for us today. The office applies an audience-centered approach, best practices in storytelling, and new technologies across platforms to create experiences for a variety of audiences. These include the general public, Museum visitors, students, educators, policy makers, and donors, among others.

Interviews for the Fall 2026 internship program will begin in August 2026 for advanced applicants. Final selection decisions will be made in September 2026, and all candidates will be notified of their status via email by Human Resources.
